actually back in school, we had a whole term in english class covering World War One in-trenches poetry... Madbringer's style captures 90% of the same style, while having a modern subject, thus , making it funny

You would be surprised how many poets and poems were written by soldiers holed up in the trenches, ranging from the darkest ones of accepting the essence of death around them, to hopeful ones of getting away to peaceful beaches. I guess it was the most common form of rationalisation and acceptance of what the hell is happening for the first part. And a form of escapism for the second style.

"Escapism" is one of the main reasons people play computer games i would imagine so it relates.

It wasn't "mocked", British poetry hasn't evolved that much pre-second half of the century and a lot of poems actually DID sound like they were written in Shakespearean times. Hark! and all that. I mean would you consider Richard Burns mocking english too?

every poet using "thou" in the 19th century or later is deliberately using it to give a reference to Elizabethan English because anyone doing otherwise woud render himself foolish

Poetry about gaming is to remain a fart rhyme, since the subject is a narrow one.

I tend to disagree. It can range from some single-player related games and the shit they invoke, all the way to joke poems like the one crapbringer over here so masterfully wrote.

you tend to disagree. so isince you don't disagree completely, here is another attempt at winning you over: the shit that games invoke are mild compared to shit that is invoked by things happening outside of the games

That goes without saying. This whole journalisn't really a "Disciples of Homer" junior scouts circle writing something equivalent to the Odyssey (that epic is impossible to read by theway), but just an attempt to see a few funny or interesting attempts at writing something that rhymes.

And i DO agree that pretty much every single poem written is due to real life eents. Love, war, hate all have inspired hundreds of thousands (potentially millions) of works of art (or close), while i can't think of anything remotely famous to have been inspired by games except that one madbringer wrote with a sense of irony.
