was really enjoying it until that standup rubbish, really ruined the flow of the movie.

Advertised as a frag movie man, if i wanted to watch ass comedy i would have put that channel on my cable.

Frag parts are good tho, would be great if you could make an edit without the other stuff in it am sure it would get a great reception.

edit: just finished watching it and really am gutted that you put in yet another big pointless clip in there. Bar the two long ass non frag movie parts good job man really enjoyed it, but cant rate over a 5.

what the fuck? how did RazorX's dm17 frag hit? it looked like it was way off.

edit: nice movie but as other people have already said, could have done without the stand up and the interview. @ZeroQL, could you please tell me your capture settings and how you did the custom frag messages and the camera movement on the noctis dm13 frag? i did custom frag messages manually once before we had q3mme and it was a pain in the ass. for the cams, i'm guessing you played around with cg_thirdperson cvars. if so, well done. those definitely aren't the easiest to work with.

good job on keeping things smooth and clear without all the tools that we've grown accustomed to with Quake 3. also would like HD downloadable version without the filler material :D

take a look at custom huds for the frag messages, here are a few examples: http://qlhud.core.ws/

for the cam on dm13, he use cg_thirdperson, and a script to change the angle progressively.

i remember seeing such scripts before mme / other video tools were available.

can't find them right now, but the idea is to exec a script like this:
cg_thirdPersonAngle 0
wait
cg_thirdPersonAngle 1
wait
cg_thirdPersonAngle 2
....

you get the idea :)

yeah i know about the custom huds but i didn't think it was possible to change the font. i knew about the third person scripts but they revolve around the player. this cam move seemed offset by a fair bit so i was wondering if he used something else.

make a cam tool for QL :D

using cg_thirdpersonrange X you can make it farther away so it doesnt look as much as its rotating around the player.

Additionally, there seems to be a new cvar cg_thirdpersonpitch, which i havent tried, but that should allow to change the camera's vertical angle.

cam tool : meh :/ i think i spent enough time coding quake stuff :D
working on other things right now =)

The standup was fucking great. Not the best joke ever told, but, that dude didn't laugh at his own shit, something most of those fuckers do. With subtitles for the guy telling the story of his life, I'm sure that would've been funny as well. But I agree with most others, the clips don't really fit in (mostly because of their length.)

10/10 for the actual fragging parts.

I like how you try to implement somwthing different but for more effect keep the video's in between shorter to maintain flow. Because after the standup comedian part when the frags started again i suddenly realized i was watching a frag movie and not Comedy central :)

Visuals and framerate were decent, downloadable high quality version would rock but not necessary so 8 points
Frags were ok but not epic, 7 there
Music fit well, 9 for it
Unagi standup was too long, so was the slovenian guy talking. If you picked shorter stuff ~30 seconds max (and subtitled the guy in english), it would not ruin the flow like these two did, 4 points. Claw and order is not easy to copy ;)

All in all, that comes out as 28/40 = solid 7 points. Not bad at all considering there are not that many ql demos around and this is the first movie. Keep creativing.

great frags, great editing despite there are no good tools and good music. Overall great movie, though those shitty clips sucked, i dont think no one watching a quakemovie wants to watch 5mins of some shitty standup, at most 30 secs for clips like that.

The comedy was a tad anachronistic and incongruous, not to mention unfunny. Mocking a cultural stereotype + penis gag != good humour.

Right when you get over the fact you sat through a terrible comedy act (it was funny the first time he said it, not the next 50) thinking it would end any second... you get into the frags again. Some old guy speaking you can't understand comes on, and ruins it once again. I turned it off. Frags 8/10 - Movie 1/10.

Even if you liked the comedy part and understood the guy, you won't be watching those parts again if you watch the movie again so why put them in.

Beautifully edited! Don't listen to the trolls with tiny peni! Just move the standup to the end of the movie and get rid of the older Quaker. From an editing standpoint it was fantastic - perfect, a work of art! And the frag messages are fine!

the non-quake real life clips only work well in quake movies that aren't serious, such as that claw and order cpma movie with that funny cereal box clip.

it just really undermined this movie for me, which could have been the best quake live movie out there as far as im concerned.
