Since we are incapable being open to anything new, (this includes great maps made by id software themselves) and jump to ignorant conclusions about maps we have probably never really played, (but we've watched the pros play on them a couple times so we know what we're talking about) lets just keep going with the same old stuff because after all, quake has done so well. We really are seeing the peak of interest in quake right now, so much more than the peak of quake 3 years ago.

Duel, TDM, CTF is just blossoming with new interest, new talent, and loads of sponsors that we just can't keep up! We must be on the right track.

To hell with new maps, lets just stick with what has gotten us here!

in fact a lot of pro players feel comfortabe with old maps, but they are affraid to say it too vehement because all the whining and their name, on the other hand, I was not saying anything about removing new maps here, but abt the removal of old ones -why can't players pick up whatever map they want? t4 is a great map and there are a lot of new players who just started learning the map, like myself, and it's not even a matter of personal taste, the map is really GREAT, with a lot of action, not 3 frags an hour

on the other hand, new players played dm6 and t4 like crazy, because they were thinking it will be played for sure and because these maps are in the q3-ql history books already, and they played these maps at such extend that some are now even better than our regular pro players on these maps, and now pro players have one quality new players don't have, it's the ability to learn new maps faster, so this move looks more like in the favour of the names we got these days, with putting in disadvantage very old players like cooller and other who played dm6 and t4 a lot, and putting new players in disadvantage as well, because the dissability to learn new maps fast, so removing old maps looks to me the most possible conservative move

let's name the big list of pro players who are against the standard 4 maps, shall we? there is noctis who is pissed off because he got beaten on dm6 against strenx recently, it seems ql is different from q3 and if you learned the map to play one way, it will be difficult to change your style, on the other hand is happening what I said before, and we have guard and vo0 who were never too good on t4
these three guys would be so happy to see dm6 and t4 removed, especially since strenx and linkin seems very strong on these maps recently

how about some IMPARTIALITY? you can't ask for the removal of a map you just ragequitted in the final, it is (or at least, oh wel, should be) common sense
I kinda dislike t9, but I think if t9 is gonna be played, t6 should be here as well, also I dislike ztn, but I admit it is one of the best maps ever, despite the fact that I am not good on it, so why to whine again and again on the removal of it?

imo only the opinions of the guys who are good on the maps they are asking to be removed should be take into account, not vo0's opinion who is nomansland on t4 through t4 kings, and the examples above

why people wanna dm6 and t4 out, because this put dm6 and t4 in the majority or in the minority of the chosen maps?

possible scenarios:
1) people want these maps out because they pick these maps a lot in competitions
-say what ??
2) people don't want these maps because nobody pick these maps up
-why scared of the maps nobody picks then, lol
3) the decision is against the guys who are good on these maps
4) we want new maps, that's why
-well pick up new maps from the list, then
4.1) ok, but some people will still pick old maps
-then it means some wanna play these maps too
4.2) well it is the random decision which makes this possible
-change the choosing map system, then, should I understand that you decided to sacrifice some maps for the sake of chosing map system?

on the situation of people complaining that quakelive is very poor on map choices I don't see the logical reason of removing maps, unless the maps to be removed are really really bad

You're not a new player and you've been playing and going on about t4 for years.

in the past I got no good Internet, so watched and played with bots mostly, in 2005 I just started to learn strafejumping, lol
played consistent 3 weeks q3 in 2007 and abt 3 weeks ql in september-octomber last year, only got cable for abt 2 years or so
also played abt 4-5 months on LAN in 2005, mostly osp q3 and d3
even counting my sp play I don't summarize the many years of online practice most people played around here

the people complaining on a certain map are usual the people that can't play it right, whatever the reason -they are sick of too much playing on it or they never got the map right

I don't think there's a reason to remove good maps from the map pool - but with that said we really shouldn't be afraid to try new maps. We can't afford that if we want the Quake franchise to stay somewhat popular in the more mainstream crowd.

I think it's great that t9 and ca2 are getting some play time. Both are great, but plays very differently from many other maps which makes many people dislike them at first.

I loved T6 too, but, I can see peoples problems with it.

Anyway, from what I understand, T7, ZTN, and DM13 are staying. That leaves us with DM6, T4, and T9.

I'll say T9 because we're needing some new maps, and people like it.

That leaves T4 and DM6. Now, with my experience, I feel 100x better if I don't have the lead on T4 than DM6. T4 is open for more comebacks, where DM6 is more or less "You're not in control? Might as well quit now".

So I would like to see a T4 T7 T9 DM13 ZTN map pool.

I say that because we have nothing that can replace T4 right now =D
