Today the registration for the Quake Live tournament at Dreamhack Winter 2009 opens up!

no serious, in vq3 pt4 was great map. with control. now u hit rail and talking sg to finish. then other player doing same. and its round and round, wining who is more acuracy and more lucky :))

mg yes, coz of xerp.. but rail no, its lot harder to hit rail in vq3, so it was more skilled/less random map .. in t4 i then i shoot rail, i dont even look at monitor and still hit 50%.. :)))))

i didn't say either really.

7mg dmg is boring, 100 rail dmg is boring, slow rockets are boring, combined with xerp and an open small map makes for ultra zzz +forward cess fest.

its more the cess fest that made it boring, not the +forward :))

also, you can't really talk about the quake scene as if its one person that either likes one or the other...

I do not agree with you. It is true that many t4 games are played extremely offensive with focus just on instant hit weapons, but, as argued many times before, you can still play the map defensive with rl, also in quake live.

If you want another reason for why I believe the map is stil tournament material, it is the constant action there is on the map. Normally the map does not allow you to get completely stacked (200/200), which gives us more situations, where the player, not in control, can catch the controlling player of guard, and thereby regain control. It is in my eyes a really sneaky and tactical map, and furthermore, it is the only map without the all dominating LG!

This combination is a lot better than the one at Quakecon and with the exception of T4 removed instead of DM6 is probably the best one we can get. Or well, we could remove dm6 in the current map pool and replace it with T2 then it would be perfect!

I don't understand what is wrong with t4. It works well with 10 min matches, you have room for comebacks and the map is generally well balanced.

Then you have dm6, a map that few pros seem to like, a map that is horribly imbalance and almost unplayable with 10 matches and yet it's still in the map pool but t4 isn't... I really don't get it.

lol the answer is super simple. Because dm6 is pld far more than t4 or any map, even more than ztn. It's funny how ppl try to ignore that.

Also, I don't agree with the stereotype of being difficult to take control back in dm6. From the hundreds of games that I had watched in dm6, very few acknowledge that.

QL isn't only for the pros.

Cool! Another nice QL tournament.

I'm liking the maplist. I still kinda like dm6, but just like T4 I can't be arsed if they dropped it. Time for something new.
Personally I really like T9, but I can imagine it's a map with haters too, but i'm happy to see it. Really different style of game.
Let's hope ID makes another nice duel map so we can ditch dm6 too.

Sadly the tournament fee will be a bit higher compared to before. I don't know exactly but it will be more expensive. Expect it to be equal as an Event pass (~400SEK)

Remember people, as carmac stated, the maplist in IEM Dubai was made well before his ESR Maplist poll and other IEM Tourneys might use a different maplist, with the most probable one being 't4 in t9 out' and 'dm13/dm6 out t4 in' being possible, too.

PS. Thus, there can still be a new trendsetter :)

- CA2 (not the best map ever but better & newer than DM13)
- t7
- t4 (t9 really suck)
- t6 or Ztn or DM6 (all 3 kinda suck)
- t6 or Ztn or DM6 (all 3 kinda suck)

But imo vq3=shit maps

so

Change gameplay to Q1/2/4 or cpm and you'll be able to have good maps

most of the people here claim that they think dm6 is shit - so why the hell is it almost impossible to find duel servers running other maps besides dm6?!

maybe because most people here dont represent the majority of dm6/ztn-only players you find on duel servers. as soon as maps are about to switch there's whining..
