Dead snow isn't exactly gory in the same sense as Guinea Pig or Gurotesuku. It is the gory in the lame ass Saw way... kinda (aw man, Saw sucks so fucking much).

Dead Alive (or Braindead if you're not American) is awesome. It's also retarded cheesy to boot. Tons of laughs and blood, you can't go wrong.

Brain Dead and so on are fine movies, but it's not movies that will freak anyone out.

I don't know what you class as tame but some of the scenes in it were pretty horrific

I doubt any film will "chock" me, I'm quite sure I've seen worse than this one will be also. I've been disgusted several times though, I often have a hard time watching some scenes. But I mostly get through them all without watching away. =)

You've probably seen Audition, if not it's exactly the sort of film you're after. If you watch Martyrs and like it then check out The Killing Room, it's not intense torture stuff like the films you're listing but it's very disturbing in its own ways.

It must be gory and it must be a movie. And please, not one of those mainstream flicks, they are boring, I know them all.

My modest proposal: If you live near this person, stay away, as he seems to be in some sort of perversion loop and seeking to up his violence tolerance through watching movies.

I don't like this kind of movies (my memory works too well lol), although I have heard about Man Behind the Sun many times (according to some people it's the "sickest" movie out there, considering it's based on a history). I've seen only one scene ([spoiler]some Chinese woman, she was staying outside for a few hours, afterwards they did something else with her hands, then put it in a hot water and everything - skin, flesh - was removed in one fast move, leaving her alive with 'naked' bones). I also heard about scene where alive cat is being eaten by hords of starving rats).
There are also some other 'parts' (sequels?) of this movie. However, I heard those aren't that "good" (one is about Nanking raping iirc).

Men behind the sun is pretty weak gore wise actually. It got pretty lame special effects and is only really worth watching because it's a movie you "should have seen" if you like those kind of movies. Although I have only seen the first half.

Mordum is pretty rough yes. =) Someone who has a problem watching the scenes in hollywood flicks like Saw wouldn't be able to watch it. Haha!
But it's not really the gore that makes it hard to watch, it's the struggle between different characters to stay alive that's disturbing. It's the same reason I thought the scene in an every day home where the father and son gets murdered before the mother while being grabbed on in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (friggin' awsome movie btw) was disturbing.

i think the hype/myth about mordum kinda devalued it..wasnt that nasty as i expected but it was quite hard to get hold of it back in times

I'm trying to get scared or something as I did when I watched horror as a child. Although I don't think gore flicks is the right way to go as they only gross you out, not scare you. But what movies should I try when regular horror doesn't even make me flinch anymore? =P

yea these movies you are talking about are so over the top, you lose all sense of immersion and so they are about as scary as disney movies, but sure they can be extremely entertaining :)

Maybe you should try more psychological thrillers/horrors to get that childhood edgy feeling unease or even fear, based on the unknown or unpredictable

often the best of these films have zero gore and even sometimes zero action, so depends if you have the attention span of an 8year old or not
