Q3 is on it's own at this point. Any tournies that happen will happen because the community organizes them. If there happens to be any "major" LANs, it's by the grace of God.

People make it sound like Q3 is entitled to having sponsored LAN events. The community itself continues to become more and more obscure. At least QL is bringing a bit of fresh blood to the mix.

EDIT: Red Faction was awesome. Plenty of fun there doing speed runs through the single player. Shen-Mue sucked -- last portion of the original game was 4 hours of tedious forklift simulation.

Doom 3 was a sales pitch for their engine. I don't think they paid too much attention to gameplay (only the engine itself). For example the flashlight controversy. And Quake 4 was Raven's failure, not id's, in my opinion. id still holds clout in the gaming industry, in my opinion. It's simply a matter of them putting the gameplay ahead of the engine technology.

I remember trying to get people to try reqtourney1 and aph and gellehsak had nothing to say about that map other than it was shit and refused to play it. =\ But I agree reqtourney1 is fun and dynamic and fast. It's like 3a meets 15, imo.

Back when TheMafia was organizing that North American 1v1 tourney and the map pool was nodm19, cpm15 and cpm22 and I was trying to get you and aph to play reqtourney1 with me and neither of you thought it was any good.

Might as well call it "SUPER LEFT SIDED RADIO" with all the spewed bullshit and opinionated garbage about gaming and Quake. You'd have an interesting show if you had people from both sides of the viewpoint to discuss and argue, but when you have one person saying Quake Live is shit and two others sucking him off in agreement, it makes for a very boring, distasteful, and uninteresting podcast.

You have at least 33% of staff on this podcast not even knowing related news to the subjects, the other 66% making up bullshit as it goes along. Godf orbid you research a subject before you bash it.

Why on earth is this even taken seriously, or made an attempt to? If I made a podcast talking about how Quake Live is amazing and SC2 will suck with two other people who are in constant agreement, you wouldn't find that entertaining in the least. Neither is this.

Stupid console gamers. Some of them truly believe they are the best. If you think console gaming is the pinnacle of difficulty, you are either a moron or too cowardly to find out how good you really are. With consoles, you get imprecise joysticks and computer assistance.

It amazes me how ignorant modern gamers are. Ten years ago, everyone knew the most challenging games and gamers could only be found on PC's. People today would rather delude themselves into believing popularity = depth. I suppose it is our job to correct their flawed thinking.

If by better you mean complete garbage and not better in any way, then absolutely.

Quake 3 (and Quake Live) take the movement skill out of the game that was introduced in Quake and perfected in Quake 2 and make the game solely about aim.

A five year old could be good at Q3 and QL, the grace and elegance of the movement during player confrontations has been replaced by LG and excessive weapon knock-back.

Why?

Because most of the masses are slovenly mouth-breathers who would prefer that the game be dumbed down to cater to them.

What I like is my Vietnamese-Australian girlfriend. What I do not like are these console kiddies who think console gaming is the best and console players are the best. Esreality is a professional gaming website. The people here will only accept the most precise with the least computer-assistance.

Maybe it is true, consoles should always remain casual while PC's remain professional. I have no problem with this. But, if professional gaming, and therefore, PC gaming, will possibly prosper, it will require enough cross-compatibility for GTV to be run through consoles and games played through PC's.

Calm the fuck down already. Theres no such thing as professional gaming outside South Korea. Doesn't seem QL is going to change this so far.
