The winner of our first qlive.co.cc is

fooki! In the Winner Brackets Final

bodzo knocked the Swedish player out to the Loser Brackets with a score of 2-1. However,

fooki managed to beat everyone in LB and played his Polish opponent once again in the Grand Final. The games were a worth watch:

well maybe, I had a quick look at their QL profiles for shits n giggles, fooKi's says playtime ~2.5 days iirc, DELTAbodzo's was ~13 hours. That's only QL, I daresay fooKi has played an inordinate amount of vq3/cpm, not that I'm bashing him for it, it's fairly obvious that all the pros play an insane amount whether they admit it or not.

EDIT: apparently bodzo has multiple accounts (reading the other comments) so my comparison is meaningless... seems a tad lame that you would have multiple accounts, just to hide how much you play(?). I standby what I said before tho, they ALL play a shitload, they have to, 99% perspiration, bla bla bla

but in my opinion, based on my experience, there are players who can't play well without playing so-called 24/7, while on the other hand we got players, who play one-two matches for warm-up and they are in really good shape. but well, most of them (for example vq3 beasts) played 24/7 before :)

As for bodzo being 24/7h player - I checked it because I was curious if he really plays that much:

Yesterday: 5 games = 50 minutes.
Tuesday: 7 games = 70 minutes
Monday: 0 games = OMFG!!! CAN'T BE!
Sunday: 10 games = 100 minutes.
Saturday: 5 games = 50 minutes.

WOW! YES THAT'S _ALMOST_ LIKE A 24/7 PLAYER, haha.

Those two guys are completely different.

Firstly, av3k's style was kind of unique (and still is!), unlike to bodzo's rail abusing and sometimes running frantically. Secondly, av3k dominated most of the things he took part in, Bodzo's "only" a very strong player. Thirdly, av3k was very, very young, and had a much bigger improvement curve. And that last thing was was most important about him.

But your probably right with the hating part; I can't write almost anything positive about Bodzo, even if it's very justified, because I get bashed instantly :/ And I don't even like the way he plays :DD

thanks for the kind words. I won't ever quit, but in the future i probably wont play as much as i've done the last week. The reason i've played so much is that my current course in school is messed up and theres pretty much nothing to study for. I've also been too unmotivated to do anything else productive :).

As for bodzo playing 24-7, I dunno if thats true but it doesnt really matter. I don't understand when playing a lot to be able to compete became a bad thing, but it is bullshit. I can assure you that all the top players got there by putting an insane amount of time into quake :).

i dont really understand how there are so much these 24/7 poles.. bodzo, 1o1, blanka..

I will always remember 1o1's stats in closed beta. He got like 11 days of gametime only after a month.. REALLY THATS INSANE. It makes ~9hours a day.. after that you should be able to beat anyone, atleast if you got the BRAINS, but it seems that atleast 1o1 is one without them 8DDdd

When Q3 was at its height of popularity broadband was quite rare to have, computer equipment needed to run Q3 was expensive and Q3 wasn't free. Now broadband is more accessible + cheaper. Quake is free and if you've bought a computer within this decade it'll run it just fine. Perhaps that's part of the reason why there is a rise in eastern european gamers?

It's just an accessibility issue.
