On the 2nd of Jan myself and my uni mates are taking a road trip up to northern New South Wales to stay in Byron Bay, which is an awesome surfer town, beautiful beaches, very relaxed (people smoke pot on the streets and no one cares).

After that my girlfriend gets back from Kenya which will be awesome, for obvious reasons hrhrhr.

Later on in the year, nfi I might be spending next xmas in Kenya with my girlfriend so that's a cool possibilty.

for me its probably the journey. i'll be going by ferry, meaning with my own car, and stay at least a month. i'm planning on seeing lots of places. cities, many different landscapes. mountains (pike's peak for example, because it has a great road leading up there to up to 4250 metres sea height). those desert highways that go for hundreds of miles. tornados hopefully =). yeah, those are the times when you can still be a kid =)

anyway, i think it's okay to wait a little for the american economy to go bust, so we can get them for half. am looking forward to that too, but i wont think it will happen next year already :(

i don't like the challenger for several reasons:

a) cost/performance ratio sucks imho
b) i don't want an automatic transmission, but on the challenger the manual is an additional $700
c) it's heavy and looks like an oversized pig
d) same boring interior as the charger
e) not a big fan of dodge

the 2010 mustang is a small improvement as well, but i'd rather wait for the 2011 model year when the stang is supposed to get the eco-boost engines. the hyundai genesis coupe looks nice on paper too, but the front of the car is just fugly. uargh.

anyway, who knows if GM etc will still be alive in six months. I'll re-evaluate some time next year when I have the right budget.

that's without options obv. keep in mind that the SE chally V6 has 250hp and the LS/LT V6 camaros come with 305hp. that's nearly as good as the new Mustang GT (ignoring the torque).

both Camaro SS have 422hp/408lbs torque, the R/T Chally has 372hp/401lbs torque and the SRT8 has 425/420. and the chally is over 4100 lbs while camaro is just over 3800lbs.

i'm not even aiming at the 2SS/SRT8, probably either a loaded 2LT or a base 1SS. i'm sure you'll have to pay over sticker for the SS, the SRT8 is still selling for more than MSRP at some dealerships and it's been out for a while now. so unless you're a total moron you'd have to wait a bit anyway.

i study industrial design (product, 3d, workshop, graphic etc etc), and am having a hell of a hard time finding anyone who to emply me as a placement student, even on a measley £12k or something. i was accepted by a medical company in slough (yay) but stupidly turned it down, totally my fault and i have tried to learn for that experience.

just lack of motivation after first close refusal. have to finish some MS app (although not really keen on them as i dont wanna spend my time convincing people at recruitment fairs) & some other places. exam prep atm though so not doing much (any)

What are you doing in the UK at the moment?

I'm working for a software company that provides software solutions for estate agents (i.e. we supply their website and database software and manage it for them.) I kinda manage the customer services team, do the IT support and account management. It's amazing how my job roles get more and more and my pay gets less and less (What the fuck's up with the pound??)

The pound is only going to get weaker as far as I can see, shame really. Now would be the perfect time to join the Euro though, but typical British xenophobia will prevent that.

As long as we've got the important things like the pound I guess it's ok that we abandon every "British" value that actually exists!

Well to be fair having a different currency allows you to customise your economy better which might help you get through the recession a bit easier, it's not going to affect british people living in the UK as much as it's going to affect people like me, who are trying to save and want to travel etc.

It's already nearly at the point where I would be earning more cash if I stayed in SA, and I very much doubt that my boss is going to give a a large pay rise in this economy.
