i have asked them to filter certain ads. hopefully we will see an improvement. all i can do is give them a list of ads that are causing problems so if there are any annoying ones with noises/move let me know the urls

If I had to wait 10 seconds for every page I looked at on ESR then I'd lose 20 seconds every day.

i use ff and its still REALLY slow :(

I have no slowdowns at all.

Like the topic starter tells. It does not matter if i use adblock and block ads on the site. And it is very very slow on FF and IE here. Site is almost no fun anymore:(

weird, its fine here, only takes 1 or 2 secs to load a page. when i deactivate adblock however its a completely different story and just hangs on some of the ads

ur adblock filters must suck then..

well, did you try the filter I linked at the bottom of the other thread?

FF both at work on a PC and at home on a mac, zero problems. I use NoScript and i have every url blocked on esr except esreality.com

so finally ads on the internet have become the same as tv - ads.

They steal your time and you always have to wait until the important stuff comes up. But at least you get a chance for a well-deserved bathroom break :D

even with adblock disabled im still loading in about ~6secs (busy making note of all the ads i want filtered)

firefox and adblock here and it's pretty fast. firefox and no adblock at work so i have to wait 10 seconds for every page.

the only other option is to pay Nicky $500 every month to get ESR Insider ad free access.

Fix? Fix what? I LOVE having to use Internet Explorer to view this site. I LOVE having to load 750 posts sometimes on one page FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS and not being able to use Opera cause the site's coded to choke it. I LOVE not being able to login with FF for over 6 MONTHS now while my enquiries get ignored by idling "admins" in IRC.

This site is the best.

Doesn't Opera use the Ie rendering engine, and logging into esr in firefox isn't a site problem as i'm using it and it works fine. IM me any issues you're having and i'll look into them.

If 500+ threads choke opera isn't that more of a browser limitation? There are ways to filter the site to show a lower amount of comments per page which should resolve your issues.

dunno, never had problems on any other site but then again, not may of them have 1000posts ;)
anyway.. considering the bugs with empty threads and comments jumping randomly around are resolved i can probably go back to limit posts per page

Yeah, I know that. I've reinstalled FF3 a couple times and even tried older versions. It still isn't working. Last time I formatted was at the end of August.

if your not clever enough to realise FF3 + adblock is the best, your 2 stupid to be using the internet...

its not only the ads that are slowing down the site for some ppl. I tried it with 3 different ISPs and with firefox + adblock: 2 were fast, 1 was still slow.

good idea lets blame ISP :P
