The way that races are viewed in some of the continental countries is very different to the english speaking countries. They are a lot less politically correct, which I don't see as a bad thing. Especially the UK is way too sensitive about things. If a bunch of black guys painted their faces white or made fun of me not being able to get a tan, I really wouldn't mind, I might even find it entertaining.

Actually the UK media seem to make a HUGE fuss out of how Spanish are racist towards black people in football, so Dird's (being a loyal Sun reader) reaction is normal. Rest of the world, it's rarely mentioned.

No hay excusa para el tema de los extranjeros retenidos en los aeropuertos (que además son siempre latinoamericanos), pero si algo hay en España es discriminación positiva hacia los inmigrantes.

En serio, los inmigrantes tienen más privilegios aquí que los españoles. Si quiero comprar una vivienda de protección oficial, un inmigrante tiene preferencia sobre mí. Si quiero llevar a un hijo a una guardería pública, los inmigrantes tienen preferencia sobre mí. Hay más casos como esos y en breves los inmigrantes van a poder votar sin ni siquiera tener la nacionalidad española. Por no hablar de sanidad gratuita para inmigrantes en cuanto ponen un pie en el país, etc, etc.

Y eso sin contar que se exime de pagar impuestos a los inmigrantes de ciertos países durante sus cinco primeros años aquí si montan un negocio.

En cualquier caso, eso puede decir algo del gobierno o de la política de inmigración (que ha pasado de ser la más laxa de Europa a una de las más duras porque se ha convertido en un problema muy gordo, especialmente ahora que estamos en crisis), pero no creo que signifique que la cultura sea racista o xenófoba.

Y, ojo, que tampoco quiero decir que no haya racismo. Que lo hay y ha crecido en los últimos 10 años con la gran cantidad de inmigrantes que han entrado.
