If you want something simple, proper, and lightweight, then use foobar2000 and not winamp.

simple player with simple, but VERY modifiable, and kernel streaming works like a charm!!! working global hotkeys is also working very well!(ino winamp have that too)..

sorting of album, songs, w/e is also up to you, instead of some pre-made really sucky winamp scheme that just doesn't work..

Maybe it's useful if you have composers and stuff but I have a suspicion that most foobar users don't listen to music that could really take any advantage of such a feature.

I like foobar, but I miss two features: the 'jump' window from winamp (i know foobar has something similar, but its alot shittier to use and clears the playlist) and the fact that enqueue doesnt have a keyboard shortcut (can you set one up for it?)

you can do almost everything.. I have a plugin which add queried songs to a "new playlist" so i can see which one i've selected.. for the "jump", i have a search bar at top, which highlighs what i search, and then i use the arrow keys to cycle through the songs, and query them..

my pc is ~4 years old and i can watch movies, play mp3's and play quake at the same time.

well ok then.. mine's about 2½years old, and if I don't use kernel streaming, it lags for about ½-1sec when entering quake or doing something..
but if you don't have any problems, then screw kernel streaming, and just leave it.. :P

EDIT: SPDIF to my receiver.. dno if that's a problem.. kernel streaming fixes it for me anyhow..
