nokia 3310 is the best one i ever had

its a cool camera phone but imo, i dont like the design and the autonomy isnt that good if you use the gps and the camera (wich is basically the option your gonna use often if you aim to buy that camera). Im not that much into nokia, execpt for their E series.

i'm not sure i follow. from what i've read, the camera is as simple as opening the shutter and taking pictures. the gps is a nice bonus, but not one of the main features i was looking for (i live on an island).

for me, the selling points are its bar-style, quadband gsm, excellent camera with xenon flash, memory card slot and bluetooth. i'm not a fan of touchscreens which seems to disqualify half of the newest nice phones out there. a quick search @ gsmarena.com shows that the *only* other phone that manages this set of features is the se k850i. and i've read bad things about the navigation ring on those failing plus random software crashes (no thanks!). the decision was easy from there.

i'm fine with the design - clean lines on this phone and it isn't especially bulky in any way considering it doubles as a workhorse for convenient photography duties. i'm too old to be a part of the text messaging generation, so i can do without a full keyboard; i call someone if i need to contact them. and as i mentioned, my last nokia lasted 6 years. that's enough to win my business again.

i tried the keyboard today at a phone store: its PURE shit. Maybe you can adapt with time, but at first it sux

its predecessor the e61i was a great phone if seriously underpowered but the reviews for the e71 are pretty good. i haven't heard of any release dates for it, though.

i switched to a blackberry a few months ago though. vodafone uk's network settings meant the e61i couldn't keep an idle imap connection going so e-mail was never in real time. also, i don't think it liked the constant loss of signal for 20 minute periods while i travelled on the london underground (the phone would often disable imap e-mail meaning i had to trawl through the slow menus to re-enable it).

mobile wifi seems like a great idea but in the uk at least, there are few public free hotspots and the drain on battery is pretty significant. most new smart phones on the market are probably going to stock it as standard but i wouldn't make it a deal breaker.

gps on the 8310 performs really well, i've got a portable tomtom that i used with the e61i over bluetooth but i'd always forget the unit, and so having it integrated is really convenient. google maps for mobile works out of the box. going skiing in two weeks and i'm hoping to find something like nokia sports tracker (google it, incredible app) to use with my bb.

p.s. iphone sux (not 'anti-apple', very happy with my new macbook xD)

i read a few review of the blackberry 8800 aswell but honestly, i prefer the e71, cheaper and i find it more beautiful. Also, the e71 is available in france already. Can buy it with a forfeit for 100€. :)

dunno about the e71 design, what's with the elongated bit at the bottom with nothing but the microphone? it looks a little bit thin and elongated but i haven't held a retail unit yet.

First off, screw the iPhone. Shitty OS + no KB + an APPLE PRODUCT + syncing to PC = waste of time and money.

The differences between phones are small compared to the differences between the OS.

The Blackberry OS is decent for business, but for media, it's nothing amazing.

If you keep things simple on your phone, a Blackberry, or a phone running some sort of Palm OS is absolutely fine.

If you're into more media stuff, find a phone lik the Motorola Q9 running Windows Mobile6. It's a great OS on the phone, media player, MSN Messenger, decent web browser, calender + normal phone stuff, easy to customize and add apps, etc.

Seriously though, the iPhone is all hype, and all shit.

I can't tell what OS the Nokia is running, I'd assume it's own Nokia OS?

First off, pick the OS you want, the choose the phone from there, or the ones you're interested in.

only looked at it briefly but stuff like the web browser (safari) especially with its gestures is 100x better than anything else on the market

I'm liking the new Applications thing right now, but, the OS is DECENT, I'll admit that.

Unfortunately, it's a typical apple product, you HAVE to sync it to your PC (Fucked when you reformat) and it's a touch screen, plus no keyboard, and so on.

It's more of a (Look I have an iphone!) thing really. Everyone buys one, because everyone already has one.

The new updates for the 3G version are nice though, the constantly email check is nice,same with the new apps you can 'purchase'.

I'd be all over the iPhone if the OS was in a phone like the Morotola Q, didn't have to sync it, didn't need iTunes, so on.

I guess the OS isn't THAT bad.

You dont HAVE to sync, i dont have a iphone i have a ipod touch and its by far the coolest thing i own & half of the stuff on that list can be added via jailbreaking it which gives you access to 1000s of free apps, used it everyday, what other mobile device gets last.fm, bbc iplayer, games, drum machines etc, none

It has the only usable internet browser, it does all da intarwebs stuff and its all comfortable. What else do you need? Ofc theres phones with qwerty, but thats for typing maniacs. iPhone keyboard is more than enough for the most.

i would probably buy some asus P750 or M930(without gps but nice design like E90). I`m adversary of gps b/c have quanta of this shit in work (garmin powa).
