There is no reason you should trust any person whatsoever, except for yourself. You can not tap into the contents of another person's mind, and you can not comprehend their state of being. You can not predict people's actions, unless you have the blueprint for the framework that allows them to act. You are the only person for whom you have such a blueprint.

Thus, trust is an act of faith: believing something without evidence, despite what Richard Dawkins might say on the matter. You can't predict the actions of another human, and most people who "trust" their partners have done so because they set up expectations -- unspoken rules -- of how the relationship should evolve, and what boundaries there are.
