tf2 or cod4. Both have good implementations of anti-lag and are pretty ping independent.

I have to second this. your ping doesn't matter on COD 4 or TF 2( unless you have like a 275-399+ ping lol).

The Orange Box is great if you are looking for cool offline games to play. A lot of people enjoy TF 2 online, I didn't like it much though since i didn't know any people who played it so i couldn't have fun with others.

My friend and I recently got into COD 4 and I absolutely love it. If you have a decent system you can run in nicely. My friend usually gets 80-170 ping on the servers we play on and can hit shots easy.

I was never a fan of military/realistic FPS shooters but COD 4 is a lot of fun and not hard to get good at, which is why i think a lot of people play it.

You don't even need a high rig for CoD4. I've only got a 6800GT and it runs pretty much 'okay' with (very) low graphic settings

Maybe because TF2 is not an aim dependent game...always thought that source netcode and reg is all shity :[ Default 100 ms delay...interpolation - hitboxes/models running separatly...

You can play cooperative or 1vs1 to 8player ffa :D With lots of cool stuff, the maps are absolutely massive(2000 towns etc) and other cool stuff such as the ability to invest in other companies :D

Well, if your guild broke up, you should use the paid server change to go to one of the more active servers. Pally isn't exactly the most exciting class to play, either - maybe rolling a new one would help?

i'm on stormscale eu, which is by many concidered one of the most active servers. i've got a few options of transfer but i dont really wanna move away from friends etc...

about rerolling, i've been looking at playing mage for some time since thats where i started out..

anyhow, as you probably know its nice to have some breathing space from wow when you get the chance, i'm pretty confident a holy pally spot will open in a bt/sw guild soonish.

i get so frustrated when i miss a shot or 2000000000 because of ping, i know its a lame excuse but i guess im a worse player than most of the top players in cpmpickup. even if my ping doesnt look that bad on scoreboard if flux between 40 and like 80 at times, which is very hard to predict. makes about any weapon a nightmare for me.. i'm getting a new isp "any week now" though and i hope that one has better ping so i can powergame some quake.

I don't know what mode you played but you're pretty much playing against the clock normally.

It's certainly less boring than a 3D grinding simulator.

I think Civ 4 is light years beyond it. I've played that a lot lately, and it's been less frustrating and more interesting than Civ 3 was to me. And yeah, I started on Civ 1 and thought it was the most enjoyable until Civ 4 :)

I actually had a similar freeze lag problem when lived in Sweden (well, now when I live in the states I don't even play - tried quake 3 a couple of times and I was waaay to spoiled with my Swedish ping to play it with the latency I had on the comcast servers) it miraculously got fixed some day though.

play some fighting games on GGPO

1. lag is not an issue. you can play virtually flawless games with any Euro and most Americans (i played good responsive matches @ ~250ms)
2. it's really competitive. this genre with DM FPSs are 1v1 at its best.
you'll get bored getting your ass kicked by 90% of the players :P
luckily you can spectate and watch in-browser replays.

also GGPO has matchmaking with a new sleek interface with country flags, world map and all that (and on-the-fly tournament mode will be added soon).

fighting games can be played in a window without having a disadvantage like with FPS games and you can keep eye on other stuff between matches/sets.. also they aren't so time consuming for casuals and can be played in quick sessions.

on the flipside, you'll find yourself really frustrated at times because your mistakes will be more than obvious (or you can pretend the opponent is owning you with some "bs" tactic that is "unfair and cheap" :D).
