IntelliMouse 3.0A is newer variant of IntelliMouse 3.0 with updated sensor. So, there is a difference.

From the other POV, according to Microsoft specifications "IntelliMouse® Explorer" is name of the product, and "Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0a" is version of the product. So in this context there is no difference.

As in a newer variant of the re-release or the actual re-release itself which came out like a year ago or so?

The OLD ones had 400, the new ones had 450dpi. Got mine a year ago and it was 450 dpi.

Isn't the A version the OEM version that system builders get?
