I personally am so tired of movies like fantastic four which was really all effects/action and real plot whatsoever. The third spiderman movie like the first two makes it more "believable" in the sense that he seems more human, and we see some of his everyday life.
The plot worked well IMO and there fortunately were alot of really funny scenes so that it wouldnt seem so dark and moody all the time. Essentially, its like the first two, but much more.

Ok let's put together a SMALL list of retarded things in this movie.
1. When your superhero boyfriend's best friend turns evil (for the fourth time), and convinces you to dump him in Central Park while watching from far away, at no time try to tell your superhero boyfriend what is going on. Also, don't mention it to him days later when you are perfectly safe. (let's see you argue against this one)
2. Sandman can fly. (discard this one if you never read the comics)
3. Brock has hawk eye vision to be able to see the face of someone 10 stories high. (ok maybe he recognized his voice when he was saying "arggghhhhhh", but he didn't when Peter destroyed his camera saying get lost)
4. Pumpkin bombs can hurt a 25 foot Sandman, wipe out Brock, and wipe out Symbiote, but it only scars Harry's face.
5. It's okay to kill people during a robbery, as long as it's an accident. It's also ok to try to beat someone to death while taking his girlfriend as hostage, as long as you apologize when you've been defeated. Not to mention you also teamed up with the guy who killed his best friend (ok Peter got the lesson from his grandma, FORGIVE PEOPLE!).
6. An alien symbiote teaches you how to play the piano and dance rather well (note to self: no need for another Mask when you've got the Symbiote).
7. When running a partical experiment, be sure and check that that increase in carbon is not just a bird but an escaped convict running from the law. Also make sure to remember a bird does not weight 80 kg. Btw the first thing scientists do is of course to rush experiments without double-checking before starting. (note to self: build windows to see your experiment )
8. Meteors traveling across the universe hitting the earth at 3g momentum makes a poof sound when hitting central park.
9. When you are put into a partical destabliser thing your clothes become a part of you except your momentum from your sick daughter. It won't become sand, sterling silver at its finest.

1.Mary-Jane was afraid for her life, it wouldn't be that hard for harry to kill her. Also, the recent animosity between them would have made it easier for her.

5.I don't know what you're babbling about here, so I'll just say that, as ever, spider mans internal conflict is a big part of the plot.
6.I think enhanced hearing, balance and coordination from both his spider powers and the alien suit explain this quite well; also, you did notice he can walk on walls right? Not much of a stretch to imagine him playing the piano.
7.Yeah, it's real easy to notice 80 kilos when you already have a few tonnes of sand: they said weight change, not a weight change of, cock wrench.
8.The meteor was small and relatively far away, the sound is understandable.
9.This was obviously a plot device, without it how would the audience know when he was being reminded of his daughter? If you don't understand that then I think it's time for you to retire from the internet critic role.
10.Again, a plot device, it's the same thing as peter wearing the black suit: it lets the audience know that peter has changed, that he's a different person; the visual difference between peter parker and peter parker + symbiote is quite stark, it helps the audience comprehend the change.

1. Did you miss the scene were he broke into her house? Of course he made some kind of threat that he would kill pete(or her) if she didnt do what he said. Even my friends sister understand that part and she is probably less than half your age.
2. You cant do everything like in the comics. It worked well if you look at some of the other things he did.
3. Why would you bother yourself with analyzing this scene? I think you are the only guy in the world that is cynical enough to complain about this.
4. If you ever read comics, you should have learned that they comics (and movies) are often quite illogical. Spider-man sort beat up the entire x-men all by himself in x-men but gets his ass kicked by some simple solo villains, quite illogical, but it fits the story, so its done. And when it comes to harry, obviously he's superhuman and can take a massive beating. Also the first goblin had bombs of various power, so i dont understand why the 2nd one wouldnt
5. The story of Sandman is a tragic story, and while it obviously wasnt ok, spidey learned that he cant live in hate all the time. His uncle would have wanted him to do the same thing, so its natural for him to do it as well.
6. Perhaps he knew how to play the piano before? Besides, he only played it for a few seconds, so what does it matter?
7. You dont even know what kind of experiment it was or whether it was needed to see the result first hand. So why bother?
8. You have no arguments on superheroes swinging around but you think its strange that it made that sound?

I watch movies to pass the time, maybe have something to talk about with friends; the day a movie changes my life or makes me realise life is worth living, paradoxically I'll hang myself.

There's a difference between being "fantasy" and just being stupid to be honest (I haven't seen this film so I'll leave it at that).

Also the reason people don't enjoy anything "mainstream" is that it usually means it just has a "glossy finish" but underneath is clearly a turd. The masses don't notice/don't care but others do notice and do care and for them it totally ruins the experience. It's not because all of a sudden it's popular amongst most people (I'll admit some people do act like that).

Personally I pity those who don't care or notice and get entertained by this sort of stuff.

Not all mainstream things are like this but the term "mainstream" is thrown about to describe this.

Things that aren't watchable just don't get made very often, people act like it almost killed them to sit through something far too often. The way the guy described his experience, you can imagine him holding in vomit, twisting an writhing in his chair, I just don't see anyone actually feeling that way with this film.

It will never be regarded as a piece of cinematic genius, but you also won't leave with vomit on your shoes.

The point is the movie had a large number of flaws, I didn't say you weren't entitled to your opinion, but at the end of the day the movie did have a lot of plot holes/stupid scenes. Many of the points I brought up weren't to be taken seriously, for the most part it's a c/p from imdb that I found funny but true anyway.

I sort of enjoy nerdy movies like LOTR, star wars, spider-man etc myself, I do not understand how so many people spend so much time writing and talking on a movie they dislike. I could understand the fanboys or whatever, even though I wouldnt do it on my own, at least they are hyped up. But the h8ers, for some reason dislike the movie so much they just have to spend alot of time trying to warn others about it! If i dislike a movie I just stop caring about it and thats it. The only reason I can think of is that the haters has some sort of love-hate relationships with their movies. They love to hate the newest movie just released. but this movie is almost all a romance thing, and not just between spiderman and dunst, he gets a bit cosey with his sidekick and even his enemy

btw 7.3 on imdb, thats the most fked up rating ive ever seen on that site

what? that was a great movie, deserves to be 8+

yeah that was amazing!

my god it was terrible, more like "Spider-man: the Soap Opera"

on the other hand, towards the end, the whole theater was laughing seeing how bad it was (extra points for the jazz club scene-was that a 'Grease' reference there?) so at least I had a good laugh

i had to look away at times.

it wasnt bad but the problem was there were too many characters and sub-plots which werent handled very well ..
the special effects were quite good ...

Well no surprise here. I gave Spiderman 2 a try since it got such a high score on IMDB and oh man, it stands as one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I couldnt even finish watching the ending fight or whatever you'd want to call it. :S

are you serious? Both were just so very very aweful.

They were okay for the fact that you'd expect a kids/adult sort of hybrid movie like the Fox Kids cartoon, and that's what you got. But this one was just so ridiculously corny it put the other two to shame in that aspect.

On another note, I found the departured to be quite boring!

Probably because you meant to see the departed. I guess you just stared at a blank screen for a few hours, that's always boring unless you're an art student.

Ah yeah that was the name of it. I suppose me remembering the name wrong is an indication on my thoughts of the movie :)

You ruined my mental image of you sitting alone in a cinema for 3 hours watching a black screen thinking to yourself "This departured is shit". Why ruin?

I thought 1 and 2 were good but 3 felt so forced - the corny Spiderman celebration, the laughable patriotic bit where he's infront of a US flag. The worst part though was the forced and odd character development. In the last 2 the characters worked, in this one a lot of the situations seemed stupid and the characters more 2D.

Disappointed that Venom never referred to himself as "We" :(

yeah he's not even named.. which makes me think that maybe we could see the symbiote on someone else? I read that there was an earlier reference to Eddie Brock and that this one could be Eddie Brock junior... so let's say it finds his dad and we have the 'real' venom :D but yeah I'm extrapolating I guess they'll just bring back the one we saw (if there is any symbiote at all).

Yeah this movie sucked, bad acting and bad script writing. Seemed like they put Venom in just for the heck of it. He came in on a meteor and then some black ooze just happened to crawl its way to Peter Parkers scooter? It was far to long and far to many scenes came of as just a quick fix because the writers had written them selves into a corner and didnt have nearly enough time to explain what was really going on. Oh yeah and Topher Grace sucks to :o In no way has he ever been even remotely cool enough to be able to portray Venom.
