tbh i think its important now to have a standard warm up time b4 games. like fat gettin to play just b4 the final vs soc and tox waiting around, isnt fair.

standard 5mins (7) warm up at tournies.

There really is no best choice, it depends on the players. Often times if players play each other too much in one tourney it leads to predictable outcomes(or worse player's giving up). That's not always the case however. Personally I prefer more games, but over a longer period of time, like a pro-sports season with playoffs. For short tourneys double elimination or group stages with single elimination is what I prefer.

double elim. but if it was a big tourney with lots of players I think the leagues to double elim would be quite nice

From a player point of view double elimination or group play then double elimination is the way to go.

From a spectator point of view nothing beats single elimination. You lose? You are out. Matches are much more tense that way and that's why every major sport uses it.

The middle point between the two would be group play then single elimination. You get players to play for a good "seed" on the bracket, so the outcome is fairer, and then spectators can enjoy tense matches on the single elimination rounds.
