Once again, these are unplayable (demo_enforceFS 0 or 1, doesn't matter). Has anyone been able to get these to work? I have every pk4 listed in q4replay, yet it says I'm missing a pak when I have enforceFS set to 1, and it loads the whole map until it errors out at the end saying it can't spawn some model or other.

For me, methtourney1.pk4 is the wrong version. Q4 tells me it wants 0x4F5DB041, while the pak i've downloaded from a few places (including here) is something else (0x7747B437).
What checksum do you get ?

(btw, I tried changing the checksum referenced in the demo file with an hex editor and it passed enforcefs 1)

Same here tho when I changed enforceFS to 0 the demo loaded and played w/o any problems. Well when the map ended q4 tried to connect to the same server this map was played on but 'unfortunately' I didn't know the pass ;)

When demo_enforceFS was set to 1, I got "WARNING: missing 1 pak files from initial demo recording: 0x4f5db041
demo_enforceFS is enabled, aborting playback".

When I set it to zero, it loaded all the way across the progress bar of map loading, and then dropped to the console. Output started with "idRenderWorld::GenerateAllInteractions, msec = 0, staticAllocCount = 0.

I've attempted to use both the methtourney1.pk4 from the "large" map pack, and the "small" map packs available from VIA's winners (as I heard that they were actually different versions), but I get the same results.

exact same problem.. deleted all the betas, redownloaded almost all the maps from q4replay's list.. same error.

Would it help if i upload the version from my folder?

well, I was more replying to Essobie, given that he provided a checksum which is for that version of methtourney1.pk4.
what checksum(s) does it give you when you use demo_enforcefs 1 and try to play it? it will copy the error message to your clipboard.

Thanks for the download, but I get the same checksum error when attempting to play (0x4f5db041).

I'm curious as to why these competitions are putting pk4 files on their servers that aren't actually being used in the competitions (or is Mash Up Streets actually a possible map to play?). I would think that given the annoying way demos have been working as of late, those folks would attempt to make replaying these things as simple as possible. *sigh*

oops, apparently the version I'm thinking of is different. they must have changed that on the VIA site, there. THIS is the correct version!

Where did you get this and is it the final version?

I don't know where I got it. I'm pretty sure I downloaded it off of the VIA Map site after the final was released, but the version on there now appears to be different.

Get this... I just installed two new maps (to match the servers), and now Galang won't work. I remove the two maps, and Galang works.

The maps were some XB something and Swelts TDM map.

Oh, and enforce blah blah blah is 0

It's funny for two reasons: that quake 4 requires all pk4's that were on a server to play a demo (and still there are problems sometimes) and in nearly every q4 demo thread the same advice is given for what to do to play a demo.

Generally, check to see if you have all the pk4's the demo needs (q4replay or a text editor) and keep your q4max directory clean. then use demo_enforcefs 1 and hope the demo plays ;0

ffs every time u need to spend half an hour searching for those stupid files, I thought demo playback wasnt too good in q3 but this is beyond everything, i cant believe they didnt even put a fucking demo menu :(

There was a wrong final version for a few hours online due to some FTP problems, which had date 27-JAN-06 in the readme file. The final version is dated 29-JAN-06 in the readme file. Majority if not all people have the right version.
