BTW, if white socks were not deemed as naff then I find it hard to believe there would be an article written on it, trying finding one where people have a problem with those who wear dark coloured socks.
I can't prove they are bad taste anymore than you can prove that they are not, but from looking at the photos from Eurocup, you can tell the players who have the slightest bit of fashion sense, Lauke, Fragm' and I bet 1000 ESR neither were not wearing white socks and probably hardly ever do.

Not to me no and not to most others, but I'm pretty sure in their own little world they look great and everyone else is is clueless as they walk down the streets and peopel gawp.
No white socks in not as extreme if you're a grown up over 20 and still wear them every day and purposely by them, by my opinions and belief, that would imply (not as in you personally) to me that you have little taste or self awareness on the basics.

Right, so most wearing white socks are just being practical and are not in fact sitting in left overs from their school days when they're mom bought them socks and pants from the quickie mart. What exactly is practical about wearing white socks? They get dirty easily, take ages to wash and look shit.
incontinence pants are practical. White socks generally say I live at home and my lovely mother choose out these white towelling treats with coloured sport band at the top, and look look everyone, I still wear them and she still washes them for me.

The fact is MOST people do care about those things and although it's not really right most people do judge you (Initially) on the way you look, dress.
It could be argued that that's a good trait you have, but if someone does not invest the time to find that out about youm, then they may just write you off.

Most really do care about stuff like that. That stuff is ground into most people at school. In fact, it's probably most peoples #1 objective.
thing of all the things you do when you get up and go to colelge or something, how many of those are actually really essential and how many of those are just to conform to a certain standard.
So that stuff you classify as false or whtever is actually a huge deal to most people.
White socks to me are just a smaller element of that. God I sound really shallow now and i'm not, but I think they are wrong. Has nothing to do with society or whatever, just my own conclusion. Course they are ok if you're 20 or under, but they should be binned after. Just don't tell your mum you burned them!

Ask someone who's into goth metal what they think of boy bands and britney spears type music and they'll probably start swearing and saying how crap it is. Yet they are pretty popular.
It's just personal preference at the end of the day, same as white socks, but to me, white socks are like those who listen exclusively to death metal.
99.9% of them wear black as a main colour, grow their heair long, work less skilled jobs than those who don't, have earings or piercings, and are, or have probably been in some shitty band (which was actually a bunch of students) trying to be the next TurboNegro or something.
That's my impression of the local goth and I doubt that's far from the truth.

Guess the problem is that socks are for comfort, not for looks. They need to be anonymous - a pair of shiny white socks between a pair of dark shoes and dark trousers will attract unneeded attention.. so white socks for sneakers and dark socks for "men's shoes" :>

Well, he's a pathetic person. He's so uncomfortable in his own skin (probably from being overweight for the majority of his life, remaining a virgin at 21) that he has to obsess about white socks. I wear white socks, a bright orange top, purple trousers and green shoes. I wear this outfit so I attract attention because one thing is for sure, some attention is better than no attention! ;[
during the first weeks of university gave me a nice impression about the white/black socks mentality amongst more "fashionable" people. as we did many parties and such, we often had partygames.
this once it was held at a bar, and one of the older students were going to yell out clothings, and the first to throw them up to her would get 3 beers for free. a bra, was first. halfdrunk environment, loud music and smiling people everywhere. the girls stressed to tear that bra from underneath their clothes. a lucky girl got tickets for 3 beers. all waited on the next thing to be announced. "underwear", boy or girl, didn't matter. some dude got the next 3 tickets. and then.... "white socks". I hurried as fast as possible to get my shoe off, something was wrong though. nobody else was reaching for their foot. but I didn't notice that untill I stood smiling with my white sock in my hand and the room looking at me with big smiles and weird looks. A real Kodak moment.
I had only heard about this "white socks sucks" before moving to a bigger city to study, never gave it much thought nor did anyone else at my smaller homecity. dated a girl for 2,5 years before this incidence, never heard anything from her about it either. always wore black or white depending on pants/shoes. Anyways... I did get my 3 beers. And I still wear white socks in the hope of winning more free beer! :)
there's nothing wrong with white socks. it's a fashion thing, and it's not unusual to be fashion ignorant, and really if people care so much about it and treat you differently because of it, they are shallow and dumb.
