LG is hitscan (instant hit at all ranges), plasma is projectile (has a travel speed and can be dodged). That's why it's easier to hit with LG.

in red u can somewhat hide behind the side stairs. Also, the guy shafting u while u r on red, usually tries to frag u too hard and doesn't dodge as much. all simple.

Indeed. the one bellow is affected too because his ground friction is increased but it doesn't mean more friction is bad, while the other one beeing pushed is even more pushed because he has less ground friction.

When you stand next to an enemymodel and type /centerview into console, your crosshair jumps to the height of you looking perfectly horizontal. You will notice that the enemymodel is higher, than the height your camera sits on, which is also the release point of shots you fire. That means you actually look/shot out of the model's chest.
First time I noticed it was in Q3, but I haven't thought about the consequences for combat until luttis pointed them out:

With a step inbetween, the lower player sees head and shoulders of the upper player (blue line), while the upper player can't even see a single pixel of the lower player (red line).
That is why most of the time the lower player tries to abuse the retarded lg knockback to force the upper player hitting himself with the retarded rl splash radius.

Someone below you can move vertically to dodge, whereas someone above you on a platform can only retreat behind the ledge, then peek from another spot
