I wasn't exactly using the word ''poor'' literally. I am not starving, I live in an appartment, I have clothes, I go to med school and I can afford a couple of shenanigans here and there. However, i cannot afford to buy an expensive mouse, which is why i am asking for knowledge about cheap mice, not life-advice from some kid who just finished growing his dick to full length. :)

Well then my best advice is a WMO, been using one for a year and works perfectly. I ordered two from eBay (I think it was from a guy named dacheng, I'm most definitely remembering that wrong but many people from esr have gotten theirs from the same guy)
Cost about 8 euros, I believe.

If you can get one, and you dont need to press any 2 mouse buttons simultaneously with any degree of consistency, then yes. It's a nice shape with low weight, low lod and a good sensor.

Too small, too light imo. Impossible to track consistently with unless your hands are midget sized. Heavy mouse ftw.

Awesome mouse, really. Just don't use drivers and jump with SPACE (or anything else besides MOUSE2).

of course logitech has a lot of costs in research and probably advertising aswell...

i would like to add, that it's really hard to say if a mouse is good or bad... make a thread on esr and you will get tons of recommendations which mouse to buy...

There are lots of reasons things can end up very cheap, even sold 'as new' doesn't mean it was actually made recently, and either way I would still be fairly concerned about the material quality and longevity.

For one thing 'ripstop effect', it's not a braided cable, it's a plastic cable with some patterning on it. I've had ethernet cable from ebay that turned brittle and then split all over the place in under 4 months before.

Also, buying products from somewhere like zowie/razer etc, part of what they're seeking to recoup costs for in te price is also their need to set up proper warranty handling.

warranty handling is also a factor in the price of a product.....i haven't thought of that..
however on the ebay site it says: 1 year manufacturer warranty

a lot of people recommend wmo or g100s yeah...

but this aren't recommandations based on facts why those mice are better than others...

wmo was just a common mouse you would find everywhere (office, school etc.) people started playing with it and got used to it...

g100s is just a middle priced mouse from a respectable company... "i want to buy a mouse but not the cheapest one"

that's just my opinion though... if someone can proove to me, those mice have an edge over others i'll take it back

those mice 2 have flawless sensors and are lightweight, so are suitable for FPS games. They are mostly used by CS and Quake players because of that.

Quakers who use side buttons are gonna recommend you g400, zowie cl, deathadder or something similar.

There is nothing about a mouse really worth considering except for sensor, weight and reliability, so if the sensor is flawless, the weight suits you and the quality is reasonable that is the perfect mouse for you

so when and how is a sensor flawless and why are there sensors which are not?

A sensor is flawless if it projects the movement of the mouse accurately 1/1. Meaning:

1. it doesnt have any acceleration be it negative or positive (if you move a mouse for lets say 5 cm in a straight line at what ever speed lower than the malfunction speed it should always move the cursor the same distance on the screen, if accel on your system is disabled)

2. it doesnt have any prediction (doesnt move the cursor in a straigh line in the general direction youre moving your mouse, but reports the path as it truly is with all its curves and imperfections)
here you can see how fast horizontal flicks are reported with prediction and without prediction. You can test if your mouse has prediction by simply doing fast flicks with pencil in MS paint

About why there are sensor which are not flawless, i dont know. Never really made any research on that. Maybe they are cheaper to make, or maybe prediction is usefull for something else than FPS games. I really have no clue

DPI is relevant if you play on very high resolution, which most of us dont (you need the cursor to move faster across your screen with pixel precision), or if you play on high sensitivity so it will be more precise in reporting micro mouse movements (400 dpi would probably be problematic for a dota player who plays with 7cm/360 sensitivity on a 144p screen because he could missclick his target).

Hz or polling rate is important because of input lag. if your mose works on 125hz it will report every 8ms(1sec/125). 8ms of input lag can be a lot in FPS games. 500hz vs 1000hz = 2ms vs 1ms, which is very close and its hard to notice.

i would add lift up distance to the list. probably no problem with most mice, but with some. it's the main reason why i dislike my sensei raw, too damn high.

WMO is not cheap anymore. Cheap is like under 15 euros, and 10 years ago i would have said cheap is like 5 euros WMO which it is not 5 euro anymore as you might know.

You can grab some gaming mouse with 3090 sensor new on amazon from unknown brands i think tho i can't give you a name and i can't tell you if its good. Maybe someone here will tell.
