Dunno about Dahang's shape. Chance beat him 2-0 in the Fatal1ty's pre-QuakeCon tournament. Strenx played well in the road2quakecon, almost took out Evil.

right, cuz his games vs cypher in the past few months have all been really easy. and rapha's a pushover with no defensive game anyway. and dahang never wins anything. and there's no possibility that chance could even win one game against him on LAN.

evil has been absolutely smashing cypher in the past few months... not that it has been "easy" but he has been winning against him in finals non stop over and over and over again.. until a couple weeks ago where cypher FINALLY won one final against evil, short lived though as evil came right back and won the next one

people keep talking shit about evil but you forget it takes BRAIN to get to qcon finals, it takes BRAIN to consistently beat cypher whether its online or not does not matter.. you are still playing the best player in the world... evil really is an amazing player he knows when he can be aggro and he almost never takes a bad decision.. its sooo easy to sit at a computer and make theories about players but you forget how hard it actually is for evil to do those things hes done and you certainly cant do them with just aim and aggression

evil definitely has a very very big chance of winning this year when you consider how hard of a time cypher has been having trying to figure out how to beat him so id actually put evils biggest obstacle as rapha

You seen cypher play when evil won constantly? He didn't give his best most of the time. That inflated evil's win rate horribly. Now that cypher has WMO back and feels confident again, win rate is more 50/50. Also evil is an online hero with 4 ping to Russian servers, don't forget. He has wavered on LAN in past and clearly cannot play against rapha, seeing as he forfeited the game after 1 map against Rapha at dream hack.

he didnt waver on lan.. he made it to the finals at quakecon and let alone make it there he won 2 maps... thats not easy at all to beat everyone to make it there and take 2 maps off rapha.. how can you just discredit that?

also the fact that you think cyphers mouse makes a difference in his performance is just childish and ignorant... its a mouse dude, seriously.. has to be the worst point ive ever seen. and again this "online hero" garbage people say about every fucking play who hasnt placed 1st at a lan.. ridiculous.. from 0-60 ping there is almost no change in the quality of the game but considering you are the type of person that thinks a mouse change can make or break a top player i could imagine you also thinking a difference of 20-30 in ping making a player to haha... jeez..

I mean if the mouse change really does change cyphers confidence PERSONALLY for him then I guess its valid.. I just dont see it personally and i have a feeling if you asked him yourself he would agree its more about how he plays against evil that determines a win and not what mouse hes using...

Same thing for the ping.. I can still hit 40lg on 30 ping or 65 ping.. yes things do feel a bit different but its not a game breaking difference and certainly not a game deciding difference in duel where it matters more how smart you play then that type of a ping difference. A larger ping difference could then definitely start causing issues but 0-60 are both still fine for the unlagged netcode and feel just fine to play on..

and even on top of that you have to remember its duel where hitting insane accuracies isnt as important or game deciding as just being the better player and outplaying your opponent on items and baits etc also cypher is more then use to 50-60 ping. how many times has he beat cooller and other top players on that ping

not sure if you're just ranting or actually responding to me - i think it's the former, because you don't really address any of my comments specifically, just sorta ramble about how "people keep talking shit, etc.". in any case, i'm not discounting evil's abilities, just saying that there are plenty of other people going to qcon that can give him a run for his money.

and based on recent history (past month or two), combined with the fact that cypher consistently destroys on LAN (compared to his inconsistency online) as well as rapha's unparalleled ability to pull out amazing wins vs. whoever, whenever, i'd say there's a good chance that it'll be cypher or rapha taking the cake, while evil is left with the crumbs of third place.

Absolutely agree. Imo Cypher's edge over evil is called +back insane aim clutch shots. It doesn't help when evil hits his clutch shots though. Just look at the last two finals between them. Also I really want to think evil learnt his lesson with Rapha and this time we will see something different. And finally evil is looking strong on toxicity!

I just dont see him placing top4, his usual 5-8th is more likely.
The noobstomp aka his preparation for qcon shows that he just wants to be confident about his game (and after all, it worked for z4muz in 2009), but super aim and strong control arent enough anymore.

Thats also the reason why I agree with Strenx placing outside the top4. They both lack that little 'extra something' in their game.

Cypher, Rapha and Evil looks to be in the best shape with perhaps Dahang up there.

Tox could make some upset if he's got the item timing into his backbone by now.. but this hasn't really been the case in past tournaments and even though i cheer for him i doubt we'll see him time extremely well.

Strenx has been struggling with Cure a lot and I don't think he really has the confidence he needs to perform well. It's not like he's going into the tournament with +30 sunday cup victories. No idea how he'll end up. Seems quite volatile in terms of performance. Could end up top 3 but most likely he won't. I think his potential has always been higher than most players but he ends up short due to his character. I just don't see him being so much better than anyone at this point from what i've seen - at least not yet.

Demon! I think his form is in a positive spiral.. seems to play with confidence and looks like he's enjoying it. He's got nothing to lose and could make some upsets too. Would be awesome if he ended up in the top 3. It would also be devastating for him if his mouse wheel got stuck :o

Spartie - has hes played much? Saw him play with strenx some but no clue really.
Zero4 - no idea but seems to be in ok shape judging by his games. Would be interesting if he went back to his ball mouse with 23 fov and 12cm/360 or whatever he had back in the days, hit every single rail and won the whole thing.
The rest - no idea.
