15th October 2012

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the additional PCs for the Quake Live tournament will not be arriving at the venue in time for the tournament to start. The reason for this has simply been down to a miscommunication within the supplier’s company dealings. It became apparent to us that there was an issue just before the weekend, and we tried in vain to resolve it as well as look at alternative options to make sure the tournament schedule would not be harmed. Unfortunately, with this only coming to light so near to the event dates, we will be left without 20 additional PCs and the 120Hz monitors – something that we had worked extremely hard on securing for the event.

Managing Director and Lead Events Organiser at Adroits, Sean McDougall, wanted to provide the Quake Live community an explanation, as well as a personal apology with these words;

“After the confirmation of shipping didn’t arrive, I contacted the offices of our supplier for this event to find out for sure if the shipping had gone through or not. At this point I was hoping they had the incorrect email for me. Sadly, as I found out this morning, the company had put the order through for November instead of October – a mistake in which they accept full blame for. However, I would like to issue a personal apology on behalf of Adroits to you, the Quake Live community.

We worked hard to source the extra tournament PCs, and especially hard to make sure we sourced 120Hz monitors. From the very beginning, I was fully aware of how important it was to the majority (if not all) of you that we had GOOD monitors for the tournament. We phoned around various suppliers, 2 of us travelled to Cologne for Gamescom 2012 (paying for ourselves) to be present at meetings and network further to make sure we had this extremely important aspect covered for you all. But, even after all of that, it has fallen through. I am extremely sorry to all of you, and especially to those of you who are attending the event. As a company, we have learned to never make this mistake again, a valuable lesson has been learned.

In an effort to somewhat compensate for this error, we will be offering all of our bootcamping slots for free on Thursday evening, there will be 30 slots available. This is to give people the opportunity to become accustomed with the monitors. We will provide an update with an exact time which the slots will be available as soon as we clear it with WZZRD.

Again, I would like to apologise profusely to you all.”

A revised schedule will be included together with the groups and format in newsposts to come. Once again, we are extremely sorry for any inconvenienced caused. This is something that should not have happened, regardless of who is at fault.
