Hello w`inuyasha. Can you please introduce yourself to us that don't know you so well. (Name,Location, interests, clan history, etc.)
My name is Christoffer Thoor and i live in Stockholm, Sweden. Besides quake i play floorball in div. 5, work out 4 times a week, hang with friends.. the usual stuff. I've been playing for wutai (which i founded together with falkieri) for almost 3 years now, before that it was ffa in qw :)
You have played TDM for a long time now. How did you get into 1v1 ?
Well when quake 3 came out we only had 56k modems around here so me and falki used to lan, and the natural thing to do when 2 people lan is to play 1v1. Once we got good connections tdm took over though.. It comes in waves, sometimes i play 1on1 and sometimes i play tdm.
What gametype do you enjoy the most? The thrilling 1v1 gameplay or the teambased mode?
Tdm is probably more enjoyable since you don't have all the pressure on your self and you're playing with more people. But deep down inside i'm REALLY competetive and enjoy success in 1on1 much more.
Back to QuakeCon, you are going to Dallas in two weeks to compete in QuakeCon 1v1. Some of the world's best players are going to participate, such as Z4muZ, LeXeR, ZeRo4, cooller etc. How do you prepare for such a big event ?
I know that i'm on a lower level than most of those players but i try to watch a lot of demos for tactical purpose and work around the skill difference in various ways. I've also been lanning some with All*Aim at Domehouse (internet cafe where he works) and i'm sure he's felt some of those 'work arounds' in a few games :)
Is QuakeCon going to be your first big lan-tournament?
No. I attended Quakecon last year. I was highly unprepared but i still managed to place top 32 i think. I've also been to a few swedish events such as Dreamhack, Remedy, SGO and NM
What was it that made you think about participating in QuakeCon? I mean, it isn't cheap going to Dallas from Sweden. You need weeks of planning and ,ofcourse, a lot of hard training.
One thing - Frequent Flyer Miles. (is that what it's called?) i fly there for free. Besides that i had a lot of fun last year so i just had to go again.
Oh, any sponsors involved?
Nah, my mom flys business class with her company 2-3 times per month so she racks up a lot of points
Back to the tournament. What is your oppinion about including pro-t2 in the maplist ?
At first it pissed me off because i only thought about the hassle of learning a new map, but now i kind of like it. It was the same thing with ospdm8 last year.
The 1v1 tournament at QuakeCon this year got full in less than 3 minutes, it got very good response from the comunity. Overall, What do you think about the Quake-Community these days?
I guess it hasnt changed much ever since cpl decided to drop q3. Everyone keeps going on about how the game is dead and/or dying but the second a tournament pops up that's all forgotten. I think we'll see this trend continuing until doom3/quake4 is released.
Yeah that's what i think too, by the way, you excited about testing Doom3 multiplayer?
Very. especially since i saw Doom 3 up-close at last year's quakecon.
Any future plans? (work, gaming, study etc?)
Winning quakecon, take the money, go to japan and become a pornstar
lol! well gl! Any last word's/whine ?
No, not really..
Thank you for your time w`inuyasha, and good luck at QuakeCon!
Thank you
