Saw the movie now, its not bad but you dont get to really see the frags like I want to see them, and there have been like 24 UT movies in the last 2 months

Good Movie Az, nice idea having the movie sorta plan out as one game Some reason the ingame quality didnt seem as crisp as the .pa movie but i still enjoyed it.

Haha that's totally bs. It's typical that people who dislike deck complain about the sniping thing. It's the most basic tactic on the map and if you can't learn how to beat a typical sniper whore on that map you cannot possibly be a good player overall. Deck is as far as I remember the only map where you can choose almost any weapon you like and rampage with it if you do it right. Opponents' skill don't matter there as long as you trust your own and know how to play

Sometimes you just CAN'T beat a sniper period.

Then you don't have enough map knowledge!

Edit: I'm talking about the game how it's become now, I'm fully aware that sniper and hitscan domination was the correct way to play when there were still held LAN tournies with other game settings (TIW and nolockdown mainly). I don't believe there's a more effective playing style with old settings than how GitzZz used to, but with that style online as of now and past years, it would be easy meat for a lot of players.

I'm talking LAN and I know what I'm talking about. LAN tournaments in Poland have got some pretty badass Deck players...

Practically deck cannot be won without making a move or at least moving around the map. Therefore a sniper can always be beat if you put the hammer on him on the right time. It's just logic, and very true. He can hit all the shots he want but if you don't make too many mistakes you will attack when the time (and health status) is right. The sniper won't be able to keep distance throughout the whole game. The item called jumpboots is evitable to do it though.

No I'm talking about a player who uses sniper as primary weapon and is devastating with it. Br3z3l, znatch are the best examples I can think of and they're fairly beatable when you know how.

I don't know. I guess you don't play enough LAN, then, or something. Deck is structured in such a way that a smart player will be able to keep a good distance most of the time and will also know which choke points to watch out for at which moment. That doesn't even take a lot of brain power if you've played the map over and over again for 3 years. (I have to say we play w/o TIW etc. in Poland.)

It's a different game..UT isn't played in LAN generally. I know top players that do LAN but don't care to play UT there at all because UT on lan = sux / etc (new school)

UT on LAN is the only way to go. Kinda changes the worth or rocket frags in Firebreath, doesn't it? ;)

Yes I dont care much about the crosshair waving rocket spamming movies that are made of 1000 ffa games, much like we've seen the past year. Worth of frag is biggest if it's in serious LAN duel, that's for sure.

Half of the people that comment on movies on esreality are just simply pathetic to be honest, the ones that actualy make some effort to comment, not blindly bash the keyboard just to come up with something absolutely useless, don't comment very often sadly :( . I'm downloading now, but from what i've seen, nothing like this has ever been done before, and it wasn't easy. Download this, as you havent seen nothing like it before!

Used and Abused by Vo0 has a similar idea, all first person and 1vs1 on cpm3 though and switches "scene" when he goes through the teleporters.

Is this all 3rd person and sort of "glides" past the areas and there are people fighting and stuff? If so there are some similar scenes in some other Q3 movies (Pa1n movie for example).

Indeed, there was also a 2k4 vid that did the same.
The only difference is trying to do it all 3rd person is a lot more difficult.

It's nothing we have seen in UT1 before idd, but in q3 there's a similar movie which only floats around with other demo's in it. But well worth the download imo

I thought it was a very enjoyable movie and the although the rocket predication was fantastic at the end, I loved the second ripper shot that bounced off the box and made a headshot, total luck but very cool and funny.

Great music and great sync, n1 Aza.

Dunno whether you saw it, but there is a ripper solo shot in Levitation movie on Face, which was always one of those "never to be seen again" shots... until now :D

The maps that are being played are all UT99's default ones by the way. Hardly any new maps come through, just shows how very well made they actualy are and how much cash could Epic have if they would release UT99 again with a better netcode perhaps ? Anyway Deck is brilliant, it's not my favourite map but it's close to being perfect with it's connectivity and all the "tricks" it has to offer.. agree with astz on that one. =]

Well, maybe that's the case for DM/TDM maps, in serious CTF competitions, there are hardly 1-2 maps from EPIC being used. Not that the original ones were bad, but they just got too easy to master after some time.

well thats just because ppl wanted something else now, in the beginning (first 2-3 years) all standard maps were used for ctf :)

Although the movie contains some nice frags, I find the constant movement of the camera really annoying. The quality would have been a lot better if you had gone easy on the panning/tilting/other camera movements and added in some 1st person perspective or still shots.

Indeed it would have, but for me I wanted something challenging to do than just lots of first person scenes.
As this hadn't been done before (3rd person wise) I chose this.

Never again though, next movie I'll take the "easy" way ;)

Like I said I wanted to do something challenging, something that technically was hard to do and hadn't been achieved yet.

I feel quite spoiled today two very nice vids all on the same day, good music that went incredibly well with the footage, and a movie based around deck 16 that wasnt repetitive.

Nice movie... I really enjoy watching the latest UT movies. The skill lvl is really sick nowadays.

camera angels was very nice., altough the constant moving around is annoying as someone mentioned. The slowmotion was also very cool, since UT in normal speed when seeing movies can be a bit crazy to follow.

Anyways, good movie, altough the frags would've looked better in first person. (imo).

nice to see some ORIGINAL movie for once, cause we gotta be honest, nowadays' movies are all the same, on cam work, on music(!), on editing and on the kind of frags that are used
this one is not, and i sooooo much like 3rd person / own camera view. you know why i love mad mint julep? cuz music is totally nice, its original, cam work is good (a lot 3rd person and own cameras instead of the too easy choice for 1st person)

only one minpoint: a bit too much of the rypelcamming (or however they call that), makes me almost dizzy :p

and it wasnt very good in my opinion. everyone have their own opinions and i really didnt liked it. The biggest reason for the ZERO was because i hate the game. Thats why i cant judge if the movie was "good or bad" And if u cant judge its easiest to put a ZERO :)

Really liked the movie. Always is nice to see a really creative work. It was like a smooth ride trough deck :D Must have cost you a lot of work. Music was different too. It suited the movie well I think. Frags were nice. Lol at the kill lauwef made at the low RL (the one with the rocket boost). He tried that on me too. Because I was so surprised I lost my shieldbelt, but didn't die. I knew that move was going to be in a movie some day :D

Keep up the good work. I really like it that good movies are made again. The movie making level is rising again :D Would be nice if there would be a ctf movie again too. I'm sure players from clans like oG, sD, san, etc must have nice demo's saved.

I agree about the whole bad comment discussion. If you have played ut99 dm a bit seriously then you know why deck is so populair. You would also know why the frags are that nice.

mate, i'm bloody impressed. the fact i watched this movie twice in a row means something special. the flow was great, with some very special frags (the air rockets are good simply because they're not 1st personview).
it's short and to the point, no fucking about and done with style.

the only fault i can think of is that maybe you should have had a few frags in real-time just to kick up the pace a bit, otherwise excellent work, sir. i'm looking forward to more in the future. an 8.5 from me, and i'm very very critical.

though maybe it should have been called Fragged by lauwef D:

This might be the first movie where I actually liked the third-person view. Great camera.work, not annoying at all (for once) imo. This might be the best ut99-movie I've ever seen.

Hello! About the movie. It's very monotonous in the theme (whole movie lacks variation and therefore low replayability).
Don't get me wrong; the idea and originality is great. Finally someone who can move on and try something new. Frags in 1st person ? Seen enough of that since it's been used for years. It's been done well enough and I don't see it possible that someone can make another revolutionary first person only frag movie. Music fits in nicely, editing smooth enough. No long outro or other unnecessarities. Cool and funny frags and nice flow throughout the movie. However, it does lack a lot of "the little extra". Best contribution I've seen in a long while however and satisfying movie for most audience. GJ :)

Its not that long so the 3rd person doesnt bother me at all!
I really like the one shot cam, must have been a very long camera path lolz!!

It all looks really good, but i get the feeling that you only play to make beautifull frags. Doesnt seem like real competitive games, just like two players trying to make good looking frags.
