Very nice photographs. I don't want to sound anal umayr; but you should change the "Alexanderia" to "Alexandria" (Along with some other names that you should look up yourself), looks a bit cleaner when you spell the names of ancient towns correctly. It makes your journal that much niftier.

Its funny how flash and rich the mosques r... compared to rest of cairo... looks like a shithole lol

well the mosques are from the recent history .. mostly 1000 A.D and the rest of it has been going on since more than 5000 years :) plus pictures really dont capture the city .. its a nice place full of life..

Yer cairo is very ancient... Egypt is one of the places "to see" on my long list... :)

btw do u know why there is so many mosques... i know praying is important in their religion but come on :/ every 'suburb' have their own or?

well praying is important.. and in the islamic era the city wasnt that big, and each of the islamic rulers of the times from abassids to the present built mosques not only just for prayer but it was a monument of architecture and art.. really beautiful mosques around the palces :)

if u go to cairo defintely visit the coptic area in Mar-girgis.. its a small area as well and has some amazing churches including the hanging church.. and the crypt where the holy family supposedly took shelter once..

Everytime i see those pyramids I ask myself if you're actually allowed to climb on them. I'd love to scramble up, put my tent on the very top and then get down the next day.

So, is this actually possible? I mean only to climb them?

climbing was allowed till 1980 .. :) so you are 25ish year late.. the problem was too many people climbing and leaving grafittii .. which is a shame really.. (and that happened for more then 2000+ years)

are there guards or sth around the pyramid? or anybody observing it to make sure nobody goes up? man i'd love to get up there..

yup there are guards around the pyramids.. and alot of em.. if probably you can get permission from some department of the government there then maybe u can climb on em.. ive seen photos from the top of the pyramids and they are unreal..

do you have any unsettling experiences from visiting egypt? a vacation to egypt couldn't have been completely perfect.

i'll take a look at the rest of the pictures later. browsing is a bitch on my system.

egypt wasnt really unsettling really.. they have improved there infrastructure alot, made the place a whole lot more tourist friendly.. the only problem is language.. but since you are paying money they try to understand every bit of thing u are trying to tell em .. other than that.. the tourist bazaars are fun.. they always put up a freaking unbelievable price on items.. you just have to make an offer as low as possible.. its quite fun eventually :)
