It was very nice for a trickjumping movie.

The name is Freeform - Quake 3 Trickjumping ;) And it's the most beautiful tricking movie I've seen =)

tar does not compress, it archives. most people compress their tar archives, previously almost always with gzip (-z), these day very often with bzip2 (-j).

And your point is? Tarballs are compressed files. While .tar.gz in itself is not a format in itself I personally don't really see the difference on a practical level since virtually all source files for example are offered as tarballs but never as .gz.

I've never seen .tar.bz2 though it was a long time since I used Linux where tarballs and .bz2 are prevelant.

The menu is very nice with all the information in it etc, the CS action is way to much but overall the movie is good. I would go for a 7.5. The Swordfish addition to the movie is nice but I would have added more around it with like irl actions of the aAa team at various events - that would have made it very cool as well :D.

The editing was neat but the movie didn't work for me, the transitions between the games were too abrupt and the Q3-scenes too messy. Dunno, something's wrong with it, can't quite put my finger on it.

Incredible editing. Im not sure about the frags themselves, but then again I seldom get impressed by frags nowadays =).
The editing and special effects is the most impressive i've seen for a very long time.

btw if the frags aren t that nice, it is mainly because hardly any aAa player took the time to look for demos and give them to Zouzou.
I was almost the only one with some demos and the times of each action etc... Kazu Penx and Thefou didn t bother... Appleseed gave only quad runs which couldn t be included (cos too long though they were nice) into the video.
Linkin took the time to give some nice shit (air rox and air grenades).
And Castro gave a few duel demos (against Rory = thefou).
Thefou only gave the last and fucking nice air rox. I had to look on clanbase ftp to try to find demos from the previous eurocup and I could also find a demo from esr of a duel between thefou and kappu.
This is why the frags level isn t as high as people could expect from aAa players.

This is the same problem with UT2003 since players never record. They recorded during 1/2 weeks their practice and they could provide zouzou only the demos made during that time.

About CS frags (which I find really cool), it is only official games. Just watch the names of the opponents, it is quite impressive.

For the people having problems with the movie, you need to install the xvid drivers that are provided with the .rar
If you still get problems, you need to remove your previous and older xvid codecs (manually for instance). You might even have to get into msdos or safe mode to delete the xvid.ax from the windows directory.

But this is worth the fromage !

The thing about this movie that I did not like was that the pace of Q3 and UT2003 were not really reflected and somehow felt at CS-speed. Also, I do not think that mixing all three games is such a good idea. The movie is confusing in this respect, especially that the frags are cut short. From a technical point of view - 3D graphics, editing of music and the use of movie scenes was done very very well, only I don't really see the point in it.

The visual effects were really nice. I like how you incorporated movie scenes into the movie, that was a nice feature. The movie itself felt very plain, there wasn't anything really exciting about it apart from when the bomb exploded it went into some movie scene, very cool idea.

Great visuals and graphics, thats pretty much about it. I didn't really appreciate the frags, maybe because of how they were displayed. Maybe if you added in-game sounds that would of made it better.

Horrible choice of music. Made me want to turn the thing off. Distracting commercials when you are trying to watch a frag movie didn't help much either. No sections were particularly good, switching clips from different games didn't work very well, aswell as some nice frags being in slow motion while others (same style frags) weren't didn't make sense. Good editing, visual quality was very nice aswell. I'd rate 6.

well.. nice opening, some nice 3d stuff.. However i really felt bored and angry at the cs movie scene's continuing need to include hollywood movie clips in an attempt to spice what graphically is, in it's default form, one of the crapest games around at the moment (and has been for several years). fight club, swordfish, evangelion, etc etc, do not make cs or this clan look good in my eyes. I know aAa aren't the first, and definately wont be the last to use other people's commercial footage in frag movies, but to me it just stinks of lazy, unimaginative, and talentless movie making skills.

ut / q3 frags were great, and looked great too. Overall a thoroughly inconsistent movie which got off to a fine start and then let it's self down shortly afterwards.

Let's not forget zouzou's favourite lyrics thing with "can't stop the rock" in the middle of the screen ;).

yeah carmac.. might've enjoyed it if we didn't use it in a movie only a month or so ago.. what are they chances eh?

In fairness it was 'can't stop the rocks' (not rock) right before an air rocket. r0x probably would have made more sense, but then you'd be using the evile that is 1337 5|>34|<

All I mean is that it's very typical of zouzou to do it and it's neither amusing nor impressive.

IMO:

The good: Innovative, nice editing, good and suitable music, liked the fact three games were shown, Like the cuts to other scenes (bomb explosion, matrix edit, fight club bomb disposal)

The bad: way the ads were presented (run along bottom maybe?), lack of game sounds, I wasnt interested in the long intro and .exe

The ugly: was a pain in the arse to get working (kept crashing media player) though you don't (as Raoul said) have to go into dos to delete the xvid.ax and divxdec.ax files at least not in XP.

Overall the fact that it gave us something new made it well worth the download and i'll probably will keep it too. Not the best movie i've ever seen but nice none-the-less. 7/10

Nice movie. I like to know who im watching tho, and since only the CS`ers used their nick`s it was difficult to know. The CS bit was probably the best part imo, because it was officials, and some nice shots.

q3/ut frags felt a bit like 'warmup-frags' and therefor not so impressive.

Very nice editing. Ingame sound would have made it alot better. The FOV on the Q3 footage made it look like zoom all the time ;) But very nice editing. Some of the best I've seen in gaming movies.

The editting was good, but why the fuck use fov 90 for q3? It looked really gay. I enjoyed the cs action the most, although it's really boring.

disappointed. First cs only one was FAR better than this. This reminded me of black n white, hyped up to the max and left lacking.

doesn't work for me, keep on getting a fmod.dll error, y can't they just have the .avi or sumthing and stop getting too complex.

overall a nice movie. great editing, didn't really like the frag selections though. would rather see a higher fov in the quake-scenes also.
