Well I enjoyed the q3 demo of GitzZz(zZzZzZ...?!) and so did I this one.

Something new, something fresh (yes especially that immortal is an old school player:)), something different.

gg, skilled and deadly. Good RL and rail (some anoying rails from the other guy, too).

i know i have lots of practice to go. still rusty, still getting used to the game again. this game was played after not practicing for 3 days (i went out of town), so my movement was kinda off. i just switched to a new mouse 1 week ago that i'm getting used to. i just posted this for the people who were interested in seeing me play.

oh and for any of you guys who watch this, please dont hesitate to give me some advice if you think i need it somewhere (my jumping, my etc), just as long as it's critical. it's hard to remember/know all the tricks of a game after not playing it for so long and when you don't have much time to prepare for a tournament. just anything for me to keep in the back of my mind to try when i'm playing in a 1v1, something like that.

keep playing and you'll get the hang of it and try to make things as easy as possible

i noticed your sens to be pretty low
imo, 1on1 nowadays is mainly about RL aiming and dodging, and for that you need another sensitivity and accel than this
watch some demos of russians (cooller, unkind) and you know what i mean

My advice would be: don't take advice.
History prooves that you've got a good style, use it and see how "the players of today" handle it.

I think you should improve your lg aim. Not that you shafted badly in that match, but you just didn't shaft at all :[. It's a very strong weapon, especially on lan. Maybe for this reason Americans (who are used to playing with high pings) are generally worse shafters than euros (excluding cha0ticz :)) but have better RLs, they just use it more often (look at zero4, czm, socrates or ... immortal / however I still think that the best RLer is Unkind).
I think it's hard to win on lan when somebody is a much better shafter than you.
But you're probably going to play via internet, so forget about really good shafting on green/yellow pings

BTW I've noticed that you have a VERY nice ssg. Maybe it's not the best weapon in 1on1, but having such a good ssg would help me much in tdm :)

i've been hitting 28-35% LG accuracies consistently with 400+ shots... after watching demo's of the other pro's they are in the low 20's...

Well that does not mean a shit, I hit 35-40% lg on lan versus an equal player (equal to me) and we're talking about +/- 1000 lightnings fired (lg is my main weap on lan). 400 shots is just a few frags. I don't want to say that your lg is weak (as for american standards), you just don't use it, at least on this demo.
Euro pros very rarely get 20-25%lg on lan even in tough games. Look at cooller (always ~30), zamuz, fox, prozac (man! better than cooller when it comes to percentages) etc.

But I guess you're going to play via internet, where lg does not matter so much.

Well might aswell answer before I hit the bed, only advice I could give is about the movement the rest is ahead of me :)

movement is easy to practice since u can be alone of the server, eg the rail bridge jump on dm6, learn it both ways so damn well u dont have to even think about where to go IF u fall down..
and the fastest combos u can get from eg YA to RA on dm6, learn them all, and well!

eg the lexer - chaoticz game on dm6 Qcon2k2

lexer drops from ya on dm6 takes the 25h and then 2 fast jumps throw a precise rail and continue in full speed without stoping, now thats a ´move´! :)

This is a long time ago and immy more than wouldn't remember this, but I remember being at, I think, CPL's Frag 2 (q2 tourney if I'm not mistaken) and one of the guys that was there with me asked immy for a match. Immy took up the challenge(my friend more than knowing he'd lose, but just wanted to play with one of the best). Immy had a match a short period of time before-hand, so he didn't have time to get his oWn mouse or sit at his oWn comp. Instead, he sat at a really low-end machine(while my friend used my machine which was a lot faster than the one immy played on, with pretty much onboard video -a lot we4ker then than onboard video is these days, and it still sucks).

Immy getting around 20 fps in q2 on q2dm1 still beat my friend in like a 10 minute match and was cool as hell about it. So, I have faith after seeing him play under those kinds of conditions that he can get back into shape no matter what. Of course someone like fox or fazz with insane railing of today can tear him apart in no time now, but I think that with a little more practice, immy will be in good shape to compete. Cloud actually does have a better rail, go watch more demos. Weapon use is more important than aim. ZeRo4 has never ever had the greatest aim in the world, it's his aim usage that is head and shoulders above the rest (apart from his sic flick rails)

Unkind is finished, give it up. Also, Unkind and Cooller were not the best right from when they started playing, they both got their ass handed to them hard in the first year of them playing. These 2 were polosatiy trained, you can't see it in Unkind much but you can see it in Cooller.

By your reasoning it is impossible for a new player to enter the scene. I guess it would be impossible for a player to play in his first international tournament unheard of and beat Cooller. (His name is Keeper, 2nd at WCG2k3 Russia, beat cooller on ztn)

hey, immy, your movement looks a lot like q3 done q2 style. no offense intended, but just pull off a makaveli and concentrate on getting a life besides playing quake. you will never get to the level of play of todays q3 "elite". you couldn't achieve anything when you started q3 back in the days (remember that?), and todays playing field is tougher than ever before. i really like your old q2 demos. watching you playing q3 makes me kind off sad. wish you all the best in upcoming tournaments although i can't see you playing for too long.

i doubt everything you say. besides, i already have a life, playing quake3 fits in just fine. i never really concentrated on playing q3 1v1 except pre-babbages, where i was practicing for about 4 weeks and i was already near neck & neck with maka, and i was beating c3 who placed 4th in that tournament. besides, playing quake3 will just better prepare me for doom3/q4. this demo i posted is old already, my movement, aim, and strategy has improved greatly already over this. i just posted this to let people know i'm coming back, and perhaps some people were interested in seeing me play, even if i'm not near my level yet, and trust me, i'm no where near it.

You got no aim (just somes little rails sometimes haha q2's skill), you got no clue about timing items (armors, MH) many time in your demo i wonder "what this noob is doing ?! he leave the MH place when the MH was in 3 secondes, rofl etc ...). Newbie strategy, if you play like this versus just a 13 years wannabe euros like Fooki, he can control the map during and the 15 mn for sure.

Akiles finishes second in one of the biggest q3 tournament (unkind won). He was really elite and impressive.
After not playing really q3 during 6/9 months, he couldn't be in the top 5 in every tournaments he plays (his teammate Sombra is great for trainings BTW).
Reason ? for beeing the best, you need to work really really HARD every times (like somes tops Russians), not just playing 2 weeks and half, like Immortal versus somes noobs (Cloud).

No, I think you meant the best player who could UTILIZE the postion known as DEFENCE the best.

czm's aim is amazing, I will never doubt that. But had 519 made him attack against teams such as gunzoids and c9 - he wouldn't of have scored as well as he did.

And in CTF scores means shit, I'm an experience ctf player from Australia, and I know from experience that all that matters are the caps - defence points do not make your dick bigger. The players that can get the flag, and manage to escape an enemy base are the truely skilled in ctf. YES aim is very important and czm utilized that aspect nigh perfectly. His high D on w2 was sheer pain for cloud9 - but, cloud nine came out the winners.

One of the most impressive shows of cap skill was clocks cap against gzd on w2. Flag > RJ to RA > their MH > RJ to exit. Add to that his teams assistence in retreiving the flag after gzd fragged clock. That is what makes 'the best' ctf'ers.

after reading the news about GGL i bet immortal will be promoted as one of GGL's further superstars. with his career record he is a widely recognized player among the gaming society. i like the idea. but he better delivers some good games in serious tournament to justify a sponsorship or whatever.
