why? gigabit has been around forever. it's not really very impressive. not bad though, but even OC-3 was around well before then and you could get a good ~17-18MB/s (or something like that). of course most OC-3s and so forth were used in datacenters and core networks or what have you. which uh.. doesn't really mean that no one could have gotten 20MB/s on a residential connection 7 or 8 years ago, either, so long as the internal network was wired up with gigabit fiber.
