When we had real Quake relevant news, real event coverage (including picture galeries, which were actually an important thing before IG, live scores on the IRC channel, etc.), the most extensive demo section on the web, actually used to host tournaments...

wouldn't mind to see that return, if people would submit content.

Social media has replaced the regular website & forum. IG has replaced picture galleries. Twitch has replaced GTV, Youtube has replaced demos. I don't think you can turn back the clock on all that.

I've just checked the user page, sorted by date, and went back a little bit. I'm actually surprised that this site still gets about one new user a day. However, if you go back to 2003-2005, it was about 10 new users per day.

About a decade ago it was kind of cool. Lots of creative free-minded people. Even then though, the needless random gore lessened its appeal.

Thatt's when I browsed it and a tiny bit before but I still didn't get the appeal and nothing made me really want to go back and continue to use it.

It wasn't the gore that put me off, it was stuff much much worse that I don't want to type, the last time I saw it I never went back onto the fucking site.

I can still remember the Fritzl memes, including the Austria-Australia stuff. Pedobear. Ima shooting my laser. Etc etc. I did laugh my ass off at that stuff back in the day.
