They tried to improve performance this update, what everybody asked for. Stop focusing on the bullshit.

They made performance worse in the last patches and made it back to the status where it wasnt that bad. Great step!

I assumed with all point releases and certain mods there were at least a 1,000 worldwide at any given time.

after 20 yrs the numbers are still impressive.

Works much better for me. Average fps increased from 145 to 165.. so basically fps performance is comparable to pre-august update.
It also feels smoother than ever before.. i don't seem to get that delay when inflicting the kill shot (when you hear the hitsound and 100ms later the body explodes).

Yeah, I only played Holy Trinity yesterday and I must say that I didn't have any stutters the whole day. Also frames were higher and input felt more crisp.

Can't form an accurate opinion on the performance yet since I haven't played regular 4v4 TDM or deathmatch with abilities. But the new mode is great for warmup. It should've been there from the beginning.

I'm happy so far. I could even stream without any hit in frames y/day or input lag which is new for me in QC.

No abilities, input feels pretty QL'y at the moment, RL LG RG off spawn with infinite ammo and no self dmg.

In my opinion it is more enjoyable since it's less stuttery. But only you can be your own judge m8.

+ this mode is the perfect thing to get the feel of the game before slipgate comes out (CA with objective). The mechanics and feel are slightly different to QL but you'll get used to it fast if you don't touch QL too much in the meantime. Good opportunity to play some unfrustrating games.

well, the stutters are completely gone. (for me only? :D)

Quake is back.

I almost complained about odd lag then I saw 177 ping and couldn’t believe how playable it was. 177 ping!!

I played QC after almost 6 months

1. yes the stutters were mostly gone ( thats the biggest improvement I have seen in recent times).

2. Overall it felt smooth enough

3. hit registration was actually working (another big improvement).

Now on the negative side:

1. rockets still feel weird ( as if they are emerging from the front of rocket launcher instead of the weapon) Its hard to describe this..anyone who has played q3/ql for a considerable amount of time will understand what I am complaining about (reflex also had this issue I recall)

2. Sounds are still atrocious and single biggest turn off for me, no spatial information about whats going on around me ..all I get is this distant low pitched rumble and then sudden lg damage sound of some one behind me, its hard to have any situational awareness with this kind of sound system. I would honestly enjoy QC a lot more if they just fixed this aspect.

The sound isn’t nearly as bad as it used to be. I turned off music and turned up the volume last night and felt well aware of what was happening around me and in other rooms. A year ago the sound was vile.

and well, I gotta say id made one good thing, for once!
Concerning the arcade modes, I really liked hot rocket!
I think it is a viable alternative to instagib imhol and should find its place in quake longterm :-).

better for me recently, i still miss the days when i could join and play 8 player FFA though, it seems now to start with 4, then a minute or so into the game it gets busier, but by then the new players have missed the start, so there's no pride in winning and those who come late can always say that's why they lost and its not the worse argument to have, so basically, those who join late gets screwed, and those who join at the start get screwed by having their victories stolen from them.

The final insult is no scoreboard for 10 minutes of committed play.

Maybe I'll play duel again, its practically winter now and golf isn't fun in the wet.

I experienced the same in TDM, a lot of times I get latejoined when the game is already running for almost 2 minutes, denyiing me often times a chance to get the highest fragcount ... I dunno why they can just let the game run in warmup mode until the remaining spots are filled, there should be enough players.
Imho. if u get latejoined u should get added frags to your score, for example the same percentage of your fragcount as the percentage of time lost due to latejoin, i.e. latejoin 2 minutes = 20 % loss, score of 25 frags means, 25 + 5 = 30 frags

What they need is ranked FFA :)
