looking for software licenses on auction sites is actually a pretty good idea. On my local ebay equivalent I see win10 at roughly 20% the price of what MS asks for. This will probably save me a good chunk of money when I build a new PC.

I bought a Windows 10 Pro license for 4.99€ on ebay last year. Windows store price is 259€. Iirc they sell Windows 7/8 OEM keys that can be legally used for Windows 10.

Openoffice is considered so dead by Free Software people, it isn't even available in many official distro repositories anymore. Maybe they can't include it because of IP stuffs, but it's not like anyone (including oracle, who owns it) cares about it anymore.

You are not buying a license but only a key. Its like buying house-keys without the deed and thinking you made a good deal.

Most of the keys will likely activate, but are generated from a MSDN-subscription or Dreamspark or such, and can stop working any time.

Na, all computers bought by companies comes with a key and pre-installed windows but since most larger companies have volume key arrangements the keys supplied with the computers never gets used and end up on Ebay, win situation for us all. I bet there are even ppl with access to volume key licensing software who create keys to make an extra buck.

All OS Licenses bought through volume licensing contracts are only considered to be an upgrade to an OEM or retail license.
For example a Windows 10 Pro volume license upgrade would enable you to use image based deployment methods which you are not allowed to with OEM or retail licenses.

You always need a OEM or retail OS license unless you have a specific enterprise agreement that says otherwise.

Didn't know that, all I know is that in a company I used to work with all computers came with windows installing media including key (oem stuff yes) but that key was never used because of Volume licensing agreements.

Maybe you also upgraded to Windows Enterprise? If you wanted to use Bitlocker for example you needed Windows 7 Enterprise back then, this feature has since moved to the Pro edition.

Basically what I wanted to say is that a company can't sell their OEM licenses as they're needed to correctly license the volume licenses.

There's also the possibility that there was an individual enterprise agreement in place. Really large enterprises are able to negotiate this with microsoft. Which is a problem with used licenses. It's perfectly legal to sell used licenses, problem is though that a lot of the licenses being sold are volume license keys. This may not necessarily be a problem, the problem is rather that you won't be provided with the corresponding enterprise agreement to see how you're even allowed to use the software. There may be certain limitations or such in an agreement to negatioate a better price for example.

In a dwindling state of employment and the lucrative industries that require degrees and/or diploma's the rarity of being asked for those is far beyond what most people make out to be.

I've worked in various industries from direct sales, marketing and business development to boring dev work, they've asked about my credentials and shit yet, they were always asking about what I can bring to the company etc. If you put your C.V together correctly instead of listing EVERY single place you've worked at since being legally allowed to work then they'll not grill you in the interview stages.

Industries are changing, they want to see what you're able to do. If your confidence and conversational ability is on point, interviews are a piece of piss.

I see where you're coming from though, I guess it varies from person to person.

you don't need to list everywhere you have worked, applications normally say the past 5 years, so that is what you list on a CV, you just give more detailed explinations about your job, the fewer jobs you have so the page looks better and not half blank

its not hard to attach visable scan's of your certificates, but word fails with smartart columns, inside a side textbox column, smartart fails in general and the templates are all for powerpoint slidesides and not text documents
