baksteen, why don't you do it yourself? It's not very hard if you have the time and software.

I don't know how to work in editing software and how to render footage from wolfcam, don't have the time to find out and do it atm, was hoping someone was in the mood to make a movie anyway and I could provide him with demos.

But if nobody is up for it then I might give it a shot someday to do it myself.

I'm not 100% familiar with Wolfcam but I'd bet it would take you 15-20mins to learn the basics of how to open a demo, seek to the spot you want, and export. The rest is mostly a question of how much time you want to put into making it fancy. If you just want to smash out POV frags and set it to music with no sync or fancy editing (aka "old school" style), it might only take you an afternoon to do the whole thing.

In my experience, the most difficult part is the creative part. How to make the movie more than the sum of its parts is the crux of it. I think most of us know a good frag movie when we see one. If you've watched a hundred frag movies, you probably have a good feel for it. For the editor, that means watching your own movie over and over and finding ways to improve it. Can you achieve the vision you have in your head?

I've greatly enjoyed learning to make movies over the years. Quake is itself a creative outlet: you find yourself in dynamic situations and need to think creatively how to approach them. And moviemaking has a lot of that same sense of reward you get from making something more than what you started with. After many years of playing Quake, it can be very refreshing to see it from this other perspective. To find a means to express the feeling Quake can give in its best moments.

I remember the days of rendering multiple screenshots (Terrabytes) in to mp4/mov files and then chopping them up in sony vegas.

However it's so much easier to do nowadays

Set up a nice full screen cfg.

Start a demo

Use OBS to record it straight to mp4

Repeat with slight recam settings

Then GL HF in chosen editing software.

Don't listen to that guy, thats not the way you should do a solid fragmovie

Using wolfcam you can bind any keys to change the way you track the player around the maps.

Kind of how they make cinematic styled intro's where you see the model running in and then first person takes over.

Obviously what I've mentioned is very bare bones idea, it all comes down to the final editing of the film.

It takes a long time to make something really nice. :-)

I would love to help you out but I don't have 100+ hours to make a 3-6 min amazing video :p

tbh he is the G.O.A.T when it comes to putting together something fresh.

Shaolin productions have yet to make a QL movie, as far as I'm aware. They were going to make get quaked 4 (aka my wet dream) but robo-k1ll said on youtube they were still waiting for the QL team to make an in game capture system for them (wolfcam doesn't cut the mustard)

I have yet to see a truly phenomenal movie from the QL community. The best one for me was Hourglass by NaF. I remember reading someones opinion on QL in that it simply doesn't lend itself to moviemaking in the same way that quake 3 did which I completely agree with.

wntt is a great editor (probably the best QL has to offer), but his movies always make him out to be a little bit of a KOS wannabe...

I would totally help you out with this myself but I simply don't have the editing prowess (yet) to do your frags justice.

I've got a couple of song suggestions though that I'll imsg you with, see if you like them.

There's some overlap in styles between KOS and wntt but I don't think wntt is a wannabe. Both have very cinematic qualities. Both seem to give their movies a grainier/grittier look to their movies. Maybe have something to do with the FPS, pixel aspect, or some kinda of post-production stuff they do.

What makes them different, imo, is the use of 3rd person cameras and their tempo of editing. What makes wntt unique is that his 3rd person cameras are unexpected. This is hard to explain, but I think whereas KOS's camera work focuses on accentuating the action/frags, wntt's camera accentuates a feeling. Lots of wntt's 3rd person cameras don't even show the frags or, if they do, the frag is not primary in the frame.

I don't know how to describe it well. I'd maybe say that wntt's camera work is like meta-camera work. Whereas KOS's is more directly associated with the frag/action.

I'll take the wannabe comment back, it's pretty harsh and undeserved, given how good wntt is. I think 'over inspired' would be more fitting, although I agree with you regarding the difference in style of third person camera usage.

The only soundtrack that I thought was amazing in a wntt movie was clams casino - numb, which was in salvia (which was unfortunately taken down). chasing dragons should have been his masterpiece but the music let it down for me a little bit. I hope he one day makes a q3 cpm movie.
