IE 3.0 best mouse ever! althought I switched to wmo for 2% better lg aim but my rails were slightly better with IE 3.0.

btw all my request mails to microsoft-hardware werent a timewaste (about 1-2mails per year). They finally listened to my mails and produced it again with an improved sensor. Exactly as requested :D

Damn, might have to buy this one. I eventually moved to G100s after having 3 MSIE 3.0s. Definitely my favorite mouse (weight, shape, and sensor) but I had terrible luck with the cord connection at the mouse falling apart. Hopefully these new ones keep all the upside and none of the weaknesses.

Cord is super-easily repairable btw.

Well, it's a common mentality nowadays. People rather buy new stuff for 40-50-60 bucks instead of repairing their otherwise perfect old gear in 10 minutes for a 50 cent / 3 bucks cost - or even for free.

Cables and microswitches are ALWAYS ez to repair for the price of a pouch of sunflower seeds. Latter needs some soldering skills, but if you can't do it, I'm sure there's at least one person in your circle of acquaintances, who will do it for a beer / tea / coffee / blunt.

-2 sidebuttons and 2 corresponding microswitches, stripping cable (maybe even -mousewheel + microswitch) for starters. You can also cut parts out from the plastic, but that's barbarism.

Inside there is tons of useless plastic. Problem - mouse front weights more after so you need readjust mouse feeling then you lift it.

Anyway, I hope they put mouse polling rate change in their new drivers and that it somehow works with WMO too, because it's a pain in the ass to get it on Windows 7 with the test mode and so on.

Nothing ridiculous here. 40 bucks for a sealed, GOOD mouse is quite reasonable.

the first razer model, the boomslang, was low quality,
but some time after that and some logitech models in between, I got the Deatheradder and now the Death Adder Chroma and they both work fine, still use the old one for my laptop, cant complain about the buildquality ... the shape just fits my hand the best, and I tried out some gaming mice at the retail store ... I think Razer is more likely to use top end sensors than microsoft will for a non gaming mouse, but of course that shouldnt matter ... for me its mainly a shape thing

either you have unusal hands or you never had an IE 3.0 in your hands. If you ever get the chance to try out a IE 3.0 you will be surprised for sure!
I've bought the DA mainly because of the sensor and thought it has a similar shape so it will be fine... but the sidebuttons are just bad so I accidently press them from time to time. Avoiding pressing the sidebuttons gives me pain after 2-3h gaming. DA heavy weight makes it worse and the shape is just not as perfect as IE 3.0

IE 3.0 + a clothpad allows long long gaming sessions. Its not just my opinion. Everyone who ever used an IE 3.0 will confirm this!

I dont think the new IE 3.0 will be mainly for office duties (there are enough office mice from microsoft). 1000hz and 3200dpi is just unnecessary for office tasks- I cant think of any programm which needs 1000hz usb-pollingrate. Microsoft knows how much the gaming community loves the IE 3.0. Who else would buy such an old mouse for 100€ when you can get a similar shape office mouse for just 5-10€? Only gamer do this!

It was an evolution of the Microsoft Habu, which MS made in partnership with Razer, it was pretty much an IE3 with a Razer style to it.

Diamondback was shit too. It was the second and last chance I gave razer. Then there was issues with the Abyssus sensor on some pads. They're a fabulous marketing company that pushes overpriced, shitty products.

Nah, DBs (especially the ADNS-S3088 (non-3G) series) are actually from the small batch of Razer products which are good. Many got to really old age without a hitch.

I'm not saying that they are absolutely faultless, but are certainly on the bright side of things.

When it worked it might've been a great mouse, I don't know. The problem with the DB (at least the first ones), was apparently some motherboards were not able to provide the power it needed over usb. This is according to razer themselves, they basically tried to blame mobo manufacturers.

I paid 30€ or my old IE 3.0 and never regreted it. This was about ~7years ago.

Nowadays 40€ for a gaming mouse is quite cheap. Im willing to pay up to 100€ if the new IE 3.0 sensor is comparable to 3360 or similar ones because then I wont need a better mouse for the rest of my life.

Exactly. 40 dollars is way much than what I paid for WMO. And I still got 7-8 of them in reserve because I bought a used WMO pack on ebay some years ago and I still have them for years to come. The only unfortunate stuff is that I'm on Windows 7 and that I can't bother to upgrade the Hz by going Test Mode and so on.

I'd be glad if they added polling support in drivers for WMO too when their new mouse is out, but I guess it's not going to happen because of the old system of the mouse or something. Or, to push customers to buy the new one :p.

You dont need test mode and other shi for win7.. Polling rate app is driver signatured from microsoft year ago.. same was with win 10, but after some windows update its not working again.

Thank you. This version seems indeed more recent than the one I was using. Still, I have the same problem. It works if I decrease the Hz to 62 for example, but doesn't do anything if I put 500 or 1000.

Fuck it, why is it always so complicated :p. I don't know what could possibly cause that problem... The readme file says

"If the rate does decrease, then the driver functions properly, however or you mouse is not overclockable; or USBPORT.SYS/USBXHCI.SYS was altered or simply too new and so unknown to the program."

I don't know how I can check if usbport.sys was altered... I never touched that.

Hidusbf hasn't required test mode for awhile,you can change rate w/o restarting pc - all OS supported

But, if you've used an mx300 for many years, and you know you're going to use this for many years/hundreds of hours of game time, I don't think it's that ridiculous in comparison to some of the shoddy gaming products people will spend close to or more on that won't last more than a year.

I switched from the MX300 a few years ago when my last one broke. I've been using a G100s mod ever since, which is fine for me - the MX300 did feel better in my hand though. Not sure if that's worth paying upwards of €80 for. :S

I'm not sure what's exactly wrong with it, so I can't really say. It had an intermittent disconnecting problem, so I replaced the cable (the usual suspect) and the problem persisted. I've got no idea what happened, maybe the PCB came loose? I don't hear any rattling though..

The MX300 would be an extremely poor choice of mouse to bludgeon somebody to oblivion with, I'd recommend a heavy brick of a mouse like the G502 for maximum damage. ;)

Nox Krom Kadru has "more or less" the same shape and a 3050 sensor wich isnt that bad. and costs 20euros or smth.

I bought my first intelli 3.0 at launch, then wore it out 5 years later and found a new one on ebay.. and now just as the ebay one is about to break down, they give it a reboot? AWESOME!

Folks at overclock started testing it.
It can reach 3 4 m/s but it doesn't seem anything special, there is a downward trend in expectations

4m/s is more than enough! This would mean the sensor is perfect for gaming (when there is no pos./neg. accel and angelsnapping).

What special feature did you expect? Additional weights? Funky LEDs?

Btw a real life scenario:

The tracking quality on this mouse is so notably bad, that's it's leading me to believe it may be a firmware issue. In fact, it's probably the worst tracking I've experienced; worse than those no-name $10 wireless mice. How is it possible for a mouse to be this bad in 2017? I'm hoping this is just a glaring issue Microsoft can remedy with a firmware update. At this point, the mouse is not suitable for even the lightest of gaming.
