Actually no, I found the music boring and not fitting. I have used a thousand foot krutch song in my second lost in space movie though, but that one is by far my worst production imo. I liked the 1:40 part though :)

So about 2 weeks ago i was told to submit my video here. I don't give a shit about ratings as I like my video, but I expected some sort of feedback. But all i got was some people talking about the music and a youtube comment complaining about the game mode (dude the title even says trickjumping, don't watch it then).

Guess this site wasn't tje right place to go as videos with little to no edit have far better reviews. Sorry if I wasted your time.

I never down vote a movie based on the music, because thats all fucking personal preference. I dont think it should ever effect the vote, we're lucky there is any music at all lol....

While I think music is important in a game video, it's more important how it interacts with other elements like content and edit. For this video, I used music that goes well with really clean edit. I tried my best to hide all the work I put into every single scene.

You may dislike the music choice which, of course, affects your overall rating for this movie. But the rating shouldn't be based on just this one single apsect (esp. as I didn't even create the soundtrack).

Yeah man i thought there were a lot of very skillful jumps, cant imagine hitting 5 percent of them. . enjoyed the music, just not the part that made me give 9/10 :)

It looks nice. But yeah, freestyle is not very interesting to watch.

Watched a lot frag and trickjumpvideos in the past.

It wasn't a waste of time for me, cause of the whole new maps which I didnt see before.

Image quality is great, cant rate the music, because I am at work ;)

I tried to make videos mostly failing in terms of image quality, so nice work dude.

Tricks: Think the missing of overbounces in QL and the mass of q3 trickjumpvideos of the past makes it pretty difficult to impress the viewers.
3 Combo rockets on the floor are doable, but follow up combos, or combos with grenades like in the video need a lot of practice so, good job.

Think ppl need to try those freestyles to get an idea how difficult it is to time the actions.

You can add some combos with plasma climbs next time. I will give it another shot with audio in the evening.

Thanks man, the image quality had indeed a very high priority on my list, which resulted in a project size of 976gb (mainly because of the depth of field).

In Elite Force overbouncing wasn't as popular as in Q3. There were only very few maps that would allow consistent OB uses, so I didn't feel the need to include any of them (meaning to switch to Q3 instead).

The tricks in my movie are indeed a bit repetitive, with using the plasma and BFG only once, and even the GL only a few times. At the same time though, EF maps are really small in comparison to most Q3 tricking maps like tr1ckhouse, making those combos really hard. I also wouldn't consider myself good in defragging, I'm just enjoying it and see what I'm able to land.
For me, the tricks aren't the only thing that contribute to the content, as this is a QL movie with (mainly) new maps to any Quake player. It's also about showing those maps rather than focusing on the player model. I even put in some old clan logos 3:19 in case any of the old EF players gets to watch the video.

I know it's hard to please everyone: Quake players, defraggers, EF players and those who also like the music, but I don't think any of the viewers should rate this video on just one aspect, may it be music, content or edit. In the end all those things contribute to the overall feeling and flow of the movie.

The jumps are nicely executed, but I've only ever seen maybe one of the maps in this video. So I can't really relate to their impact. I also am not a big fan of freestyle, because most of it is very arbitrary and not least bit useful in regular gameplay.

To extend on what I mean with arbitrary: Cool, you can do 5 sync rockets on a large spacious map, but I bet I could do 10 sync rockets on an even more spacious map. If you had made jumps in a maps that people actually play, like the stock Q3 maps for example. Not only would I be able to relate to the scale of your jumps, but also to the geometrical restrictions provided by those maps. When you don't have rules and restrictions, trick jumping just feels completely arbitrary.

EF has indeed very open maps, but most don't offer much potential for a 5x (or more) rocketjump. They have ramps or no field of fire. This is why I only have one of these 'simple but massive' jumps in the entire movie

The idea of that trick was still caused by the music. My progress with this video was: listen to the music and think what could fit in there. Multiple people said they weren't a big fan of freestyle content, but it was the only gamemod with a massive variety I had full control of (I also really enjoyed it :] ).

The question in all my tricks still is: 'What do I need?'
Do I need that many rockets? Nobody wants to see a 10x rocketjump when the model only hits the skybox then. I could easiliy do more rockets on that particular scene with haste or just by running one circle at the start, but i figured out I needed exactly 5 to land directly on the balcony/in the tele of the pyramid.

The question in all my tricks still is: 'What do I need?'

As a trickjumper myself as well, I more the less understand this thought process. My motto is to reach as high and far as possible with as little as possible. Then when I eventually succeed in a trick that took like 1 hour to do (lol), I'll spend another hour trying to do the trick with even less until I'm confident that I'm at the game's limit.

But there are moments for example when you have a choice between 1x rocket and 2x rocket. With 1 rocket you would not reach your location, but with 2 rockets it would be too easy. What do you do in this case to make it harder? Maybe you extend your 1x rocket flight with a couple wall plasmas nearby and keeping the number of plasmas down so you would only barely reach your destination. But is this really harder, or does it give you too much control? Is it also really necessary to reach that exact limit, when you could just 2x rocket there anyway? The spontaneous challenge there just feels kinda arbitrary imo. When I playback my tricks that are like this, it just doesn't feel like it was worthwhile to do or interesting to watch, even if I ultimately decide to leave it on a video. Hope that makes sense from a viewer perspective, as a fellow trickjumper.
