The game already fails at the most basic level. I can't setup key bindings properly. It seems impossible to bind jump to mouse2.

Seriously how can you fuck up a game like that with a pedigree like id software has, and yes Doom 3 mp was shit, but not as shit as this, Quake 4 mp was bad, not as bad as this.

Basically they did a fucking 180 on everything they had and made a generic CoD shooter. It's like we took everything you loved from id software shooters and turned it into shit and gave you the option to color your gun purple and put fancy decals on it which you wont see and don't matter fuck all, and hey you can also customize your armor but it doesn't matter, cause in game you're either blue or red anyway, but we wasted time giving you the options.

And most importantly we gave you in-game voicecoms which you can turn off, but not really, because we love mouth breathers.

But it has XP progression system! And unlocks! And loadouts! All the other games are doing it so we have to too!

then the pause half way through is windows showing the low memory message, which happens every game, so you have to disable it

Is the MP really only p2p, so no dedicated servers like in Rage?

Supposedly dedicated servers hosted on bethesda.net backend, altho pings were pretty high yesterday, the second alpha test played way better in this regard.

It was possible to start dedicated and listen servers in the cracked alpha and even play via the server browser (since it used steamworks and they didn't block it).

rage has dedicated servers, you download it in steam workshop, where you download the tool kit

I do have a bit of an older machine but far cry 4 or any newer game when I kill motion blur and most of the post processing settings start to fly....and Doom is locked with forced blur and 60fps cap.....

Since this is still a beta I will go over that and wait for the final product, there is a greyed out advanced option button in the settings but we don't have access to it yet so far....will see in the future or maybe last beta if there is one more before the final release.

Because of the blur and fps cap, I experience ultra laggish mouse cursor which is impossible to control in the menus and I will not even talk about the in game....


MP:
As before, nothing changed except maps have more teleporters, more small pickup items such as shards, jump pads and few new areas, but the movement is as described in the begining of the post.


Config:
For those who have problems with binding their key, I just changed everything inside default.cfg which is located Doom Closed Beta > base
and it works fine.

Scrolling through the cfg settings I also found two interesting cvars for jumping/movement and those are:

pm_allowStrafeJumpBoost 0
pm_allowRampJumpBoost 0

This is the most interesting thing to me, since I can allready see when the game comes out, with snapmap and mod community....there will be more or less few days since we are presented with strafe-ramp-quake'ish style movement system.

i didnt said every one should make a review... but since it was up for 3 days on twitch, so ppl can watch it... there was hell of a little noise about it. And since it is beta opinions matter to some degree.

Not saying anything, will give devs free hands to leave in some features that would, if some one talk about it, potential leave them out or change them for final release.

Watched a lot of gameplay videos, game looks more fun than overwatch. I might try it if i can get 144fps stable on lowest settings. If i can get 144fps on highest settings that would be amazing, but i'm like 95% sure that it won't be the case.

if i can't get 144fps stable on lowest settings with an i5-6500, 8GB of ram, and GTX 970 4GB, then fuck this game. No point playing on anything lower than 144 with a 144hz monitor. At least for a multiplayer FPS game. For single player i don't care much as long as i can get 60fps or higher, but for multiplayer 144fps is the minimum.
I'm way too used to reflex and ql smoothness with 250fps stable in any situation.

People are so desperate for the Second Coming of Quake that they parallel DOOM franchise to Quake.

Guys.

People behind this revival know full well that it will be driven by nostalgia sake. Middle-aged guys like me will buy it because of the legendary status and hope for recapturing the magic of our youth. Or they will buy it for their children to let them see. And teenagers/young adults will buy it because of exactly the same reason - some mythology of early FPSs that they heard about and hipsterlike nostalgia.

Now. If the very same people who revive DOOM want to keep people in the game and revive the franchise into a full swing (this might be a one-shot money grab though, to see what happens) which demographics will they target? How many middle-aged guys have time for games? How many of them will continue to do so? But the youngsters, they're the prime money cow here. So probably the game will be a lot like any other generic futuristic FPS.

Unless someone steps in and proves that trickjumping, strafejumping, exploiting physics etc will get back into vogue like it's 90s again. Sorry, that won't happen.

So IF they leave/build these elements in the game, they will most certainly be optional - like UT mutators. Modern players are not used to them, and while it's still a niche that lives it's a NICHE not MAINSTREAM.

I'll buy DOOM4 for single player, and maybe - just maybe - play some MP. What for, I don't know. The one I see on gameplay vids looks unappealing to me. Slow, slow slow.

About the MP speed i would say its not slow and its not quake fast, but its something in between. ... lets say when there are multiple targets on screen it can get rather fast and hectic.

Coming from quake, I can tell you the game got very easy very quickly. After about 3 hours play and getting used to it I was coming top 3, by end of 10 hours I was getting like up over 30 frags a TDM game.

I think that was one thing that made it a bit boring for me, but I guess more maps, players, powerups etc will add a bit more fun before it eventually becomes easy and boring again.

in server options there will be "damage scale" default set for pub servers, you just lower for competitive, using the same weapon balance
