But the common things to set which aren't visual changes are :

make sure gpu drivers are up to date from gpu manufacturer, not windows update.

in QL set
com_idleSleep 0 // disables cpu sleep cycles
r_primitives 2 // fixes autodetect bug for render setting
r_swapinterval 0 //turns off vsync

No problems here but I use the beta Steam client (settings - account - beta participation) so that might be why.

They update that pretty much daily.

I use that too, now i disabled that and fps incresed from 80, to 100 lol...still not 200 as i had before. My friends have same problem and they still cant fix it either :F some of them will try to re install os and see if it helps.

But im pretty sure the steam update had smth with this, since non of us did anything to ql, or steam day before this problem :(((

Try disabling the steam overlay?

Also go through the Steam video casting options, disable anything you can.

They're the only things that should be capable of interfering like that tbh.

In fact this user reports the opposite, opting OUT of the beta's solved the problem for them.

Did that, and still the problem persist it didnt help :/ also i just deleted all the steam stuff games and all,re installed steam and quakelive aaaand the problem is still there lol now for sure i have no idea how to solve it :((((

this did not work, in fact, it made it slightly worse (fps fluctuating between 40-80) back on the beta branch its stable 80 again lol

scratch that, it does work but you have to opt out of the steam beta client, not just the quake live beta.

atm the quakelive beta is identical to the non beta :)

yeah thought so, I guess the fps differences came from testing on another map, still opting out of steam beta worked fine, stable 250 again ;)

I have the exact same problem - game has suddenly and inexplicably dropped from 250fps to 80. Will post about it properly tomorrow with details of the troubleshooting I've done so far.

happens basically every single time to me that the awesomium process is eating 50% of my cpu and i have massive fps drops during game. So i have to terminate the process. Which is very lovely becuz when you disconnect you won't see the menu and you need to restart the game every time.

Just to confirm, fps dropped from steady 250fps on overkill to unsteady 166fps, I'm using AMD 6670 and i5 2500k.

same problem here, solid 80 fps since yesterday :-/

well on wednesday i also noticed a weird down drop until 90 fps and for second till 20 - ffs i thought, the evening bfor i installed grim dawn, so the game crashed after i applyed the 'high' resolution graphic the whole fckn day i thought gpu or smthn ripped...than later the next day i saw that Microsoft updated some security files...just to give it a try..i uninstalled around 6 files, and fps started to increase to 200...so i deleted all the latest files it uploaded between tues-, an wednesday 09.-10.02.2016...
in the meantime coz got brassed off of windows 7 and !!!upgraded!!! it to 10

I've had fps troubles this month too.

Before I played with stable 250 fps on all maps. Now it's either 166 fps, 180 fps, 200 fps or 222 fps. On Asylum I run the game on only ~150-170 fps.

It's very weird. The game feels choppy.

I've tried:
com_idlesleep 0
com_maxfps 125 and other numbers. My fps is not stable even at these low numbers.
r_vertexlight 1
r_primitives 0, 1, 2
r_swapinternval 0, 1 (with vsync my fps is ~144 but does not feel stable)
r_enablepostprocess 0, 1

ql.exe in nvidia control panel
single display performance mode
disable threaded optimization

I've used different configs.cfg but the problem is the same.
