besides of the other modes, flying around and dogfighting seem to be fun but way too easy ...

Would have played that game if it was more like BF3 and pure FPS.

That over the shoulder bullshit pretty much ruined the whole game for me. Which is a shame since I really like the Star Wars universe.

i dont think you are forced to use tps mode unless you pick up a hero powerup

like in battlefront before, you can switch between fps and 3rd person. heros could be the exception.

Probably not, but it can be used to look over objects and so on. Sure I could play first person only, but I would only handicap my self by not using, or at least toggling between the modes. I could hug a corner and still see whats coming towards me without showing my self and just pop out and frag the enemy when he looks away, and that's why I don't like third person modes.

Like in most zombie games, hug a tree and watch your enemies trying to find you, if it was locked to first person it would look like I used WH. And if it was locked to first person I would have to look behind the tree, exposing my self, to find out where the bad guys are and they could shoot me. That will never happen with third person.

Apparently a lot of people like it, but it's just not for me. Like I said, if it was pretty much a BF3 copy (DLC lol) I would play it.

Think of it as if its the Force guiding you.

BTW: Quake3Arena had 3rd Person too, but you could not use it to play because auf the crosshair not visible (can't remember)

I played the demos with friends, and had moderate fun, to which the novelty factor contributed noticeably.

The game looks stunningly beautiful. Gameplay seems mostly based on objectives, that everyone in game seemed to ignore completely, allowing the natural curse of action to happen (like Empire winning on Hoth). Moving and shooting is what you can expect from modern fps, where ping is hidden, you can't select a server, and each weapon has its bag of netcode trickery designed for the average case. Wouldn't say it's as bad as games with a host, but certainly did not feel too reliable in how the guns behaved.

Expect the usual 'account progression', where you have a few guns and equipment like jetpack, grenades, etc which you need to unlock by playing.

If possible, it has even less multiplayer features than battlefield, with just one buddy instead of a squad.

Overall, a very nice looking game that I guess will get old as fast as Titan Fall and all the others.

TitanFall update 8 is nearly a Year ago ... still no spec mode, it was looking good but died quiet :D

3rd person view, what a waste of a potentially good game.

Contras:

The game is quite expensive, when you keep EA's gypsy DLC-strategy in mind, see Battlefield titles.

The game is a hardware-slayer, even with two cards in SLI and a xeon. But considering the beautiful gfxs, I didn't expect anything else.

You can switch back and forth between 1st and 3rd person perspective to spy arround corners and obstacles.

Except for the snow map, the white stormtroopers are way more visible than the rebels.

The vehicle control feels extremely floaty.



Pros:

The gfxs. Te fookin grefiks, nga.
The impact-sparks-popcorn, models, vehicles and maps, even the snow dessert looks awesome.
A huge battlefield with two massive armies and laser trajectories everywhere, like the light show in a discotheque.
After flying through the ewok forest on a jetbike, with an AT-ST exploding, lazer beams passing me by and a tree falling infront of my way, I came to the conclusion that id tech sucks.

The sfx.
Everything sounds like in the cinema, the weapons, the vehicles, the lightsabbers, just everything.
It is the first game where I didn't turn off the music for better sound awareness, in order to enjoy the cinematic soundtrack.

The weapons feel like buffed versions of my beloved plasmagun and on a moving target at high distance, require more skill than rl, lg and rg alltogether.

The game is epic and imperial.
A Moment of silence and everybody holds his breath, as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are charging at each other while swinging their lightsabers.
But then out of a sudden, Luke the heroic babyface gets shot in the back by a nasty polak stormtrooper.
There is nothing more satisfying than teabagging Luke, while telling him that his mom was cheating on dad Vader and I am his true father.



I am not a star wars fan, but this game was a forced buy, because of the consistently good movie implementation.

I think one of my most satisfying feelings in the game thus far has been to successfully use the orbital strike powerup on the enemy heroes in the "Heroes vs Villains" mode :-D You see the "hero wounded" messages pile up, and then the confirmation that you've killed one or more heroes... Priceless!

But yeah, like you said, the visuals and sound effects make for an amazing experience. I wish there was more depth to the modes themselves, but it's great fun. I'm surprised you call it a hardware-slayer, though. I have a top-notch pc which handles it perfectly fine, but I heard many people have said it's extremely well optimized and can run smoothly on lower configs on high quality.

That depends on perspective and how you define [hardware demanding]:

The game isn't [], when you are happy that the game runs smooth enough to be playable on medium hardware.

The game is [], when you rage that an octa-core and 8GB of video ram still drop below 144fps when shit hits the fan.

But you are right, considering the hardware required to run such awesome gfxs smoothly, it is a bit of a stretch to call it a hardware-slayer.
And to be fair, my setup is actually not designed as gaming machine to smoothly waste time at 144Hz, it is rather optimised as a workstation for "CAD" and "FEM". Its ability to run games well, is just a side effect. And I also didn't find the time to apply game specific driver/os tweaks yet.

The graphic on that game is absolutely outstanding, and it isn't even particularly heavy.

The gameplay seems a little dull after a while, but it's a matter of tastes, it's a decent run and gun game and if you like the star wars ambientation it's very nice.

learn to do good looking games bethesda, fallout4 40fps and sw:battlefront 80fps on same rig. Even witcher3 10years ahead in overall pic quality with TWICE better framerate. Shame on u bethesda!

I will prevent myself from the 3rd person WH inducing rage, i would get.
