Some questionable cvars there (like maxaniso 16 when it can't go higher than 4).
The megatexture was baked for consoles, they never released a higher resolution version for the PC, period.
You can make it more crispier alright, but you won't get higher resolution unless they would recompute the entire world in higher resolution, which would be like nice 200+GB download at least.

I'll wait until I get my beta key first.

No you can't. At least not in fullscreen. And vsync is terrible, tho i heard GSYNC is nice BUT only for games with very low framerate. And using SYNC means you first need the compute power to sustain stable 120 or 144 fps.

Rage doesn't work very well uncapped. It is possible, but it's only good for benchmarks, because it simply breaks the game.

There is no 60 fps cap in idtech6 from what i heard.

single player is suppose to be 60, multiplayer is developed separately, but don`t say on the FPS

They've only said they're aiming for 60fps 1080p on consoles. They didn't say anything about PC.

WTF happened to D4 closed beta for Wolfenstein pre orders?
Anyway I'm going to wait until Doom4 is released and then decide if buying a new GPU, monitor and a fibre to cabinet connection is worth it.
I just hope it has a competitive following and is the next big arena game.

Syncerror should be advising with the esport side of it as he probably has the most understanding of the community, at ID software.

This game needs to scale well like Q3 did.
It needs to be a game that is used as a benchmark for top end hardware and also be playable on low end scuds ).

fyi from what I can tell, doom4 doesn't actually have a 1v1 mode. it's got a bunch others like ca, ft and dom. also loadouts seem kinda more or less a major part of doom multiplayer. like people who played it at quakecon were mad that they couldnt pick more than 2 guns to fight with (which make sense b./c how is a console potat gonna pick more than the guns hes got? use the wheel thing like in single player? that would massively slow down the game)

lot of people seem to be hyping it up, but i dont actually think doom will haave much substance aside from the singleplayer portion w/ triple a graphics. I do think there's a potential for a popular gamemode to come out of SnapMap that could become really popular.

Lets hope that snap map is able to create custom rulesets/gamemodes and is not some half baked console editor.

SnapMap is a joke. 4 players limit, no open spaces and other limitations. Maybe after year or two they will fix it, who knows...

In the snapmap part they showed something that looked like 1v1, while saying it was "classic" and stuff. That probably means "no 1v1 at release, make it yourselves fuckboys" which isn't necesarily a terrible thing.

They said at E3 that there will be a small beta starting towards the end of this year that will be available to some of the people who pre-ordered and then the beta for all pre-order people will be out early next year.

New Doom must be great singeplayer game. Fact. I don't know how about multiplayer, but singleplayer look completely RIGHT. But yeah, mutliplayer is a KING and I hope they doing right things with it.

RAGE was good, no LOD at all, nice feature of megatexture technology =) great level design, decent playability for shooter, must PLAY for FPS fans. And then - wolfenstein........feels so cheap, its like for 10yo kids crap, ugly grayish coloring, boring, badlooking game not worthing ur time. Dissapointment. Dunno what to expect from D4, im kinda in pessimistic feelings :(

I played some 10 minutes of the beginning of rage and thought is was pants.
Seemed like a duck and cover game with under powered weapons.(might go back to it though)

What? Wolfenstein was a far better single player game in every way. Rage had awesome weapons and the movement felt great (that's why we love id games after all), but the game was dumb, boring and the design was utter crap. The graphics artists did a fine job, but the plot, the dialogs and the characters were so bad, the game was only enjoyable on nightmare difficulty for me. Sending more and more from the same shit and hoping that you run out of ammo is not game design in the 21th century, it was ok in the 20th but certainly not OK now. ..... We only play these games because we can appreciate the great movement and the good feel of the weapons, but that's far from enough for the rest of the world...... well, I had the exact same opinion about Doom3 too, so I might be clueless.

Rage... i liked beginning of the game but that nice feeling didnt last long when you start to play in "open world" for me it didnt work in this one. Wolfenstein .. we have seen this scripted shit over and over but it just work for oldschool games like this.

I agree, Wolf was a high quality "movie", I had great time while playing. It's a worthy shooter, much better than Rage.

Wolfie much better than Rage only at overall game quality, but shooting system completely sucks and pickup system sucks too. Another linear FPS, with real GREAT art design and boring everything else...yeah, may be not everything but almost. Rage way better at shoothing, one of the best for years.

but that doesn't make it a good game, it's a great FPS tech demo. Wolf is like a movie. I think the soothing system doesn't suck completely, but I agree that Rage has a better one indeed. I had great fun with New Order, I enjoyed it pretty much from start to finish (that's something I can't really tell about many games nowadays), and I have no regrets only good memories.

1v1 probably won't happen, the community will have to mod it in in their own (they hinted at this during the Snapmap presentation, with the "[...]or this classic deathmatch multiplayer experience").

Q43A has reactor gametype but only 1 dodgy map, which is relativity i just stuck some animated reactors in, make your own and add some vehicles

the reactors have health regen, and while players on the reactors team are close to the reactor, they have health regen too, for they servers with 128 players on

so if you have steam, click on quake 4 and do properties, then the launch options and enter :

+disconnect +set fs_game q43a +set net_serverDedicated 0 +set r_fullscreen 0

to load staight into Q43A

no mappers from doom 3 will bother making maps for doom 4 with just snapmap

in id`s office, snapmap would be the quick editor, and nothing much more, while 99% of the map is still made in radient

when your playing a new map you have made, adding that extra wall`s waits a week because shutting down, loading radient and recompiling your map gets on your tits
