I tried nQuake a few months back with linux Its total shit, 30 fps. Thats not a complaint just the facts. Weird as vq3 and cpm run really nicely on it and the engine is only (1?) generation younger.

nQuake includes one QuakeWorld client, ezQuake. If that didn't work for you, I suggest you try others. FodQuake and FTE are alternatives.

But the 30fps you mention sounds like a system problem, maybe drivers? "modern" hardware can easily get 200-500 stable fps.

It's suprisingly slow on low-end graphics cards compared to other games. I had to spend quite a while on tweaking config to play comfortably at 160hz 640x480.

I don't remember exactly, but 30 fps probably means that some graphics transformations aren't accelerated. He should disable some lightning options etc.

Note that you can play versus americans & russians on the Japan or Taiwan servers with around 150 ms

Yeah I know there are other ones. I've been trying to arrange some duels lately, but no luck.

I just meant on that map there's a server in the middle of dick nowhere, right near the center of Australia and I don't understand.
