Definitely second this. I've got a mid 2014 MBP 13" and its easily the most well built machine I've ever owned. I had an IBM Thinkpad that was close and a couple Sun Microsystems machines.

OSX has its quirks but I like Xcode much better than VS for c++.

My mother did not grow up with technology, the mighty PC was her worst nightmare since she was completely clueless about what to do when there was the slightest error or irregularity. Naturally I was the one she called when there were updates, she had to istall something, etc, try to explain a 60+ year old how to fix some windows shit...
After 3 years of angry calls I decided to sell all the pc shit, I got her a mac, apple keyboard, apple mouse, bought a solid printer too. I have not had a single call ever since.

Sometimes computer literate experts with years of experience say 'fuck this bullshit' because they're bored to death of the fucking shit windows causes. You know what? I triple boot mac / windows / linux depending what software I need - yesterday windows decided to not boot... just randomly, a 4 year old installation - windows logo then black screen. That's fucking shit, and I know what I'm doing.

The linux noob distros like mint or ubuntu are gonna be at that point in a few years as well, if they aren’t already. UI’s are not crazy intuitive, but the ease of something like system updates make these systems more noob-friendly than windows.

dunno I used Ubuntu several times and it's UI is really not bad.
Setting up a machine is still a bit of a hassle where you need to know what to do... But in general using it is about as simple as using windows/apple machines.

That said I haven't seen one in 3 years, but I guess they haven't gotten any worse since :D

even so I'll never buy one. The best looking ones are the ones that look like real watches, in which case...why not just buy a real watch? the battery lasts like 1+ years vs 1 day and then I don't have anything competing against my phone to be charged every night
