Hi all, it's me or your ping too is +20 (about) than the one you had before update? I pinged 48-49 in DE, now I can't go under 65 even if changing net_port! What happened and why? I noticed lots of players have the same issue.
Quake players complain. That's their nature.
And ESR is the epicenter of Quake.
Afaik (but you're right, I'm not an expert in this matter) some BT regions / customers with FTTC service now have +20ms. From what I heard, that started a few weeks ago.
It's not just BT, it's just the ECI modems that don't seem to be supporting G.INP well after the necessary firmware update are quite common on BT. It can be anyone with FTTC in the UK on any VDSL modem/router without full G.INP support, the problem hit me 6 weeks ago, a new VDSL modem solved it.
It's a staggered roll out of G.INP some places will have had it long before, and some could be many months off still.
When there's no apparent explanation for why only some have an issue that may be due to a bug you have to collect evidence on the most unlikely things, bad handling of a split packet by the ql engine would have been worth looking into more if people started reporting bad MTU settings. I've been advising against messing with them for years but people still do.
I don't have the problem so it meant having to run with wild speculation for a bit while trying to find some common ground with those that did.
The huge packet at connection time could have easilly been part of a split one, when it turned out it wasn't I looked elsewhere.
I don't see you trying to help, but at least now I know you still care about me, thanks for the trolling bro.
