45%+ lg, 65% rg average, so I don't care, works just fine. Now, I don't even have proper glides for it, only pure plastic. Anyways, polling rate is way too overrated.

Sure, it's a bit more responsive on 500 Hz, not to mention the drastic sensor-characteristic change (perfect control goes up to 3,91 m/s, because of the 8 bit data path) and while I'm playing with very low sens, the amount of accel and other mouse settings I use resulting me not ever hitting the 1 m/s perfect control limit on 125 Hz, despite the very flicky mouse-handling style I apply from wrist.

After a point, you realize that polling rate doesn't really matter anymore. You just play and hit.

Even on stock 125 Hz, it's still the best mouse I ever had - and I had a LOT (considering only "gaming" mice: MS WMO 1.1a 3 times, MS IMO 1.1a, MS IME 3.0, Razer DB, Razer DB 3G, Razer Abyssus. Razer Salmosa, Logi MX500, Logi MX510, Logi G5 and Logi MX700 (lol), Logi G100s, Roccat Pyra Wired (lol), Terratec Mystify Mamba (rofl), SS Kinzu v1, SS Kinzu v2 (pff..), SS Kana v2 - and tried several others).

It would be best to have the opportunity to buy 5 more MX300s and then I would secure the mouse-issue until I'm 90 years old.

Btw. have you ever noticed any weird freak outs with the mx300. I have 2 and both of them sometimes go crazy when slowly moving it. Like the cursor would catch on to something and then jump around like crazy for a couple 100 pixels or even stutter backwards.

Also I measured dpi and it's more like 380. Might be totally different for you, depending on pad/feet height but if your cm/360 calculations seem to be off, try 380.

I feel that would have been the best and smartest thing to do. But being stuck with 400 CPI forever? No way. Mouseware not beeing supported anymore was the real issue for me.

400 CPI wasn't really the problem. My desctop resolution was 1280x1024, which was fairly high too. The drivers fucked up my sens so it was more like 800 or even 1600. Still without acceleration. Until today i have no clue how that actually worked, but i really loved the feeling of those settings. (Especially with hitscan weapons.)

terrible max tracking speed (<1m/s) was caused by bad firmware (1st batch of aby 2k14 got this issue), if you bought the aby 2k14 right when it was released then you needed firmware update. After firmware update max tracking speed was fixed (>5m/s), but you had to do the update manually (dling the firmware and loading it).

if you buy the aby now, there's a high chance that you won"t get this issue because firmware should be updated out of the box (was the case for me)

Sensor is great, shell's top part particularly the button section is very stiff which mixed with Huano switches makes it feel extra stiff, so if you don't mind the stiff has hell button actuation you also have to deal with the usual zowie PCB button lag which is basically an extra 10-18ms more than logitech mice.

Pretty much what Rauvz have said.
Sensor is great in terms of tech specs but it took me almost 2 weeks to get used to it (been playing with WMO for years and then I had g100s for 2 weeks but it was too small for me so I decided to I sell it).
Now the sensor feels perfect for me. Compared to WMO/g100s the FK1's sensor felt a liitle bit moody and slower at the beggining, like it was liitle bit responsive/heavier or something. I dont know if that was only a placebo effect but I almost wanted to return the FK1 becasue of that. Now after getting used to it I can't complain (got it for 3 months now). I have big hands so the mouse shape / weight is perfect for me. The only downside of the FK1 is the skipping scroll, sometimes it dont register when you're scrolling up. Anyway it's not a biggie for me but for a 50-60$ mouse such bug shouldn't exist. Other downside is the Huano switches, yeah they're stiff compared to the Omrons but again, it's not a game changer for me and it took me couple of days to get used to them. And I'm not like performing better/worser because the switches are 10-20ms less responsive. Yeah it's all about personal preferences, but FK1's switches are not something that you can't get used to, you only needs some time. Overall build quality is really nice. The cord is flexible and top notch (especially compared to the g100s one).

Huano switches are fine, but the FK1 has the worst implementation of them because of the extra stiff shell.
Also, one thing to note about the sensor, or rather tracking feel is that using a different mousepad or using smaller/bigger mouse feet will change the feel completely because of friction differences and also how the sensor reacts to a given surface at a given height, you can have the same PCB in 2 different shells with the same mouse feet positioned arguably similarly but you'll still feel like the tracking is at least slightly different because the height of the sensor in relation to the surface is different because of the shell's different dimensions.

I like it.. I think anything small and under 80grams is good for quake, as long as it has a sensor capable of >3m/s and no pos/neg accel or prediction. ofc there's other things to consider like button lag and shape but the aurora seems great on both. For me it actually feels like a bit of a mix between the abyssus, wmo and kinzu shapes.
I think there's probably never gonna be a perfect mouse for everyone's exact hand shape, so finding something that fits this profile is best its gonna get imo

Only other mouse that felt this good for me tbh was abyssus (once I did the tape fix, LOD is fuckin horrendously high for me without it). abyssus even seems flimsy/light compared to the ninox aurora, though I never break my equipment as I'm quite light with it.

abyssus, zowie fk and kinzu felt a bit too flat, and the aurora has a bit of a bump for your palm but not as much as the wmo, so for me its pretty near perfect I guess. 9.5/10 ? :) Only bad thing for me is the cable is a little thick.

I think best alternatives now would probably be either kinzu v3, g100s or abyssus 2k14, which I haven't tried.

Easiest explanation is latency.

125hz = 8 ms (your WMO without overclocking the USB port)
250hz = 4 ms
500hz = 2 ms
1000hz = 1 ms

For low sensitivity 500 is recommended. Depending on mouse 1000 feels better.
For mid/high sens 125 or 250 are quite usable.

Also changing the hz of the mouse can affect ~~the lift off distance and~~ overall performance.

Keep in mind this is worst-case additional latency. The mouse sensor can continue to accumulate tracking data up until the moment that data is requested over USB during the polling event. The latency "feel" is more accurately described as 1/2 of the figures you've posted.

Yes you are right. The 3090 doesn't seem to do that. Just did a quick lift off test and after switching from 1000hz to 125hz i was able to stack one more cd, whilst the cursor still kept moving. However, i did this a second time and the lift off was the same on both pollingrates. Maybe it was laser mice which do that. (G3,G9 or G9x) Sorry for confusion.

From what i have heard Zowie FK have used the same setting on every version, FK1, FK2, Fk2014 etc whatever they are called. That's why i asked.

Yes and my point is what you're using is either an FK2014, or FK.
They put a 3310 sensor in the FK1 and FK2 as opposed to the 3090 in the older models, only difference between the FK1 and FK2 is the shell dimensions.

There are 4 models:
FK
FK 2014 (new wheel + coating)
FK1 (bigger shell + 3310 sensor)
FK2 (Old shell + 3310 sensor)
You know the naming system they used with EC evo mice?
1 implies big and 2 is smaller.

Double check that you are plugging the WMO into a USB 2.0 port and not a 3.0 port. The 500hz methods only work for USB 2.0 ports.

Thanks for the positive feedback, the sensor is great at 8200 dpi, far more accurate then when i used 1800 (Razer) and the 1000hz polling rate is far superior then my old Microsoft optical mouse wheel.

I am average T4 player, lower at duel, and i hit 40 percent LG most of the time against my skill level or anything under the 2k+
When you are able to play as accurate and fast on your own sensitivity you are near godlike status.

Cooller Edition of the Zowie is second to none, designed by the best for the best.

I tried every sensitivity from ~26 to ~52cm in ql. i came back to 35-40cm every time. For me it's just the best mix of aiming and movement.

For me:

higher sens -35cm:

+ better movement, rockets and also better track in close range LG fights

- impossible to hit any kind of rails or longer range lg

lower sense +40cm:

- exactly the opposite of high sense :D

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not.. but I use any old mouse I can pick up, and I aim pretty well. it's not really that hard. I mean, yeah, I guess Joe Satriani or whatever has his "perfect" guitar, but really.. it's just a tool, and you're not gonna be Joe Satriani by using his guitar, are you? pick something up, find what you like, and play with it. that's what I've done for 20 years in quake and I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it. I've just never understood this fetishization of peripherals.

I get different CPI ratings from my 3 wmos on the same mat (last tested on SS HD4). Two are closer to 405, and the one I'm using now is 415-420. They're all genuine, old mice.

I'm guessing there were some minor revisions over the years.

I have the Razer pad you mentioned, and though I feel like the build quality and cloth is not as good as that found on a Puretrak Talent, I prefer the stitching edges method.

I guess large cloth pads are designed so that you are unlikely to ever meet the edge, but the constant rubbing and friction from your arm leaves the surface pealing on every unstitched pad I've used. It's a good feature imo.

Hmmm..

Not an MX300 for sure, but usable. It's a better kind of implementation of the Avago 3050. It has some prediction and the LOD is very high; still sees the surface from 4 CDs height. But you can apply tapefix, then it's chill. It's using standard red LED instead of IR. Perfect control measures between 2,5-3 m/s.

Jitter might happen above 1000 cpi, but that's true for all 3050 mice. It's best on 500 cpi.

Driver is simple and effective, polling rate is stable on 500 Hz.

Build quality seems really nice, WAAAAAAY above the G100s.

Cord is not braided, thank God.

2 huge feet. Glides ok, but I would prefer 4 smaller feet.

Left- and right click has a disctinct sound, I like it, tactile feedback is ok. Mousewheel has very distinct steps at first, softens up in a week or so, but still comfortable. It reminds me of the Razer Salmosa's wheel.

Shape-wise...well, not God-like MX300, needs accustomization.

If you're into small and ultra-leightweight mice (this is 70 g w/o cable), then it's an option, especially for the $30 price tag - if you want new stuff. There are 10 stickers in the box as well. )

G402 and G9x

400 DPI, 1000hz, no acceleration. 6/11 Windows but using no-acceleration patch anyway.

In BF4 I use 6% sensitivity, same as 1,45 in CS:GO on same settings as above.

This gives me 0.71 meter pr 360 ^^

Tell me, this G402 feels worse sometimes than g9x in terms of accuracy and "feel". Is there any sweetspot for it?

Any mouses similar to g9x and have optical sensor? I love the g9x shape and buttons..

I also wonder if anyone tested "The Finalmouse". I've heard it got same shape as "Deathadder", lighter and better overall. Click latency is also said to be faster.

Lots has changed since I last posted here. My favourite wmo died, so I finally moved on. Haven't quite filled the void yet, but I'm pretty happy with this setup now:

Mouse: Zowie FK with some lensmod (done by Storm - i still owe him $20 for this mouse and need to give him his Kana v2 back :s)
DPI: 450
QL Sens (no m_cpi): 2.1
Accel: 0.14
m_pitch: 0.028
m_yaw: 0.022
Mousepad: QCK+, upside-down now to counteract wear.

I was using m_cpi and 1150 DPI with this mouse, but the acceleration just felt wrong. ~400dpi and no m_cpi seems to be necessary for me to get the right feel.
