Hello. There is a possibility I'm going to go to Russia for a tour with one of my band.

I was wondering about the CDs price in Russia. In Europe, we sell our cds 8 or 9 euros, and our tshirts 14. How is it compared to the Russian prices at the moment ?

What price would be an okay price in your opinion ? For instance, what is the price of professional CDs like the ones of Metallica and so on in supermarkets (because we usually sell them cheaper) ?

Also, I might also come in Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia later on and possibly in Ukraine. So, baltic states are in euros, but not Ukraine.

Ukrainians, even if your money is probably going to fluctuate until there, what kind of prices in Hryvna would be affordable for a CD or a tshirt ?

I'd say up to 400-500 for CD and 800-900 for T-shirts would be maximum reasonable price tbh, most people are still used to old exchange rates which were 1usd=30rur 1eur=40rur. Depends on the cities and how good the merchandise is though.

can not really imagine who buys CDs these days... I just realised, that I do not even have devices to play it, except for the built-in car player :)

it really depends on what category are your listeners in. After EUR and USD price change 10EUR is not so little as it was before suddenly. So-so salary in MSK is 40-50k rub after taxes, 100k is considered very good.

:) 128kbps era is over, it is already 320kbps mp3 and lossless flac times

depends on what you listen to

really obscure stuff: no, you're lucky to find it. you're going to deal with lots of dead links.
obscure stuff: you can usually find it at 320 and sometimes even flac. nothing is guaranteed tho.
modern mainstream music- yeah, pretty high chance you can find it at great quality.

downloading doesn't seem to be as good it used to be tho. streaming seems to be killing cds AND downloading.

+ probably nearly everything worth listening from 80' to mid 00' is easy to find in good quality, unless you are searching for the very specific version of the track

but you are right, if the band or track was not popular at its time, it will be impossible to find it online

I buy from newer bands to support them
I buy older cds cause they sound better than remastered-reissue cds(80% of the time)
it's worth it to me, but i can understand why most people don't care for it.

i don't buy as much as i used to, but i still enjoy doing it.

modern cd players come with hard drive/ipod support nowadays, so you don't have to pop the cd in if you don't want to. I still pop in good cds from time to time tho, it feels better than hitting the ipad play button or winamp, i can't explain it :)

In black metal, listeners are often collectionners too so buying CDs is pretty common, especially if it's some underground stuff. Besides, some want to support unknown bands they like so it happens.

op, i believe russians pay less than euros for cds.
i've bought some cis(russian federation) cds before and they were really cheap.
think about charging like 6-7 euros instead.

Yeah, one the the guy from the other band is russian said 500 rub. It's like not even two times the price we pay at the factory unfortunately, but it's still ok.

We will probably print tshirt in Moscow so I guess we will be able to send them cheaper than what we previously did and still be okay.
