Partners in Crime - NA 2v2 TDM League (28 comments)

Sign ups are now open for the new Reflex NA TDM 2v2 league - Partners in Crime. Sign ups will be open from now until February 27th. Play starts March 2nd.

There wil be groups stages followed by single elimination playoffs. Matches are BO3 with maps of AFRODM1, DP4, THCDM6, THCDM13, and XFDM2. Maps are chosen via pick-pick-drop-drop. The full league is expected to last around a month. Full rules are available.

Some legit stuff! I am so happy to see some cool people taking a liking to this game. I'm wondering if I should get it.

I am wondering who has owned me more in duels, the QW guys, the CPM guys, or FFSmasher on Aerowalk in Quake Live.

Probably the QW guys if you consider the score differentials :D

In light of this announcement, I will begin taking donations for the Tomzissou PC Fund--all donations will be going towards a modern day desktop PC with a standalone graphics processing unit. Any extra monies will be used for a stereo headset and microphone so we can communicate green robot positions on the map. I repeat, none of the proceeds will be used for his hipster vinyl collection.

You can spectate in game but we will likely be using private ip servers a lot. I'll do my best to make demos available as well. I'd stream a bunch of maps but my internet is terrible. I'm hoping someone will step up to stream some (at least playoffs).

phgp.tv expressed interest in streaming

Their streaming quality + config for Reflex looks really nice, too.

It also seems they're focusing exclusively on Reflex events, so that may be something to keep in mind going forward. Supposedly they'll have a website launch soon.

I hope some better maps come out for 2v2, because as it stands xfdm2 is the only good map, the rest are just terrible for 2v2 B/

Everyone has different tastes but I agree we could use a lot more maps to draw on. Most maps out right now are duel oriented. AFRODM1 is very similar to XFDM2 in items and size.

I don't understand why some of the NA CPM crowd seem to want all 2v2 TDM maps to be big and have Carnage (aka Quad). In other games I typically played a variety of maps, big or small and with or without power ups 2v2s. The map pool I choose was selected to offer a good variety of maps. There two that are bigger with powerups, (AFRODM1 and XFDM2) one that is medium size with variable speed play (THCDM13), one that is basically two sided (THCDM6) and one which is fast (DP4). Given the pick-pick-drop-drop format you can always play the map you like best.

No quad would make 2v2 too similar to duel. Also 2v2 maps need to be zoneable, meaning that ideally u shouldn't be able to control the entire map at the same time unless you're very very good. this is the main reason why 2v2 maps arent usually that "small"

Altho im not really sure why you think cpm only has big 2v2 maps. I mean ztn, cpm29 and cpm15 are hardly huge.
