Noctis and Fox used it for a while before +alias came around due to how their scripts work, Fox eventually ended up using a simpler bind setup with normal +zoom to get around the limitations at one point.

those zoom scripts were used ages ago to achieve "thinshaft" (a thinner looking lg gfx which is now an option aswell), it has nothing to do with toggling zoom as that's possible without any script.

Part of it yes, the other part was to scale mouse sensitivity with fov changes on each weapon so it wouldn't feel retarded.

No script needed for zoom toggle in QL.

k1llsen uses it I believe, but most players do not. Seems like it should be bad because it is extra work (and time) pressing and releasing the zoom key, but some players like it anyways.

i find holding down the space bar really annoying so yes i use toggle zoom

also i remove that annoying zoom scaling. cant stand it.

what zoom scaling? how do you remove it?

I'd recommend the Ninox Aurora for zooming. You can either set up zoom with scroll wheel or use the buttons, either way zooming with the Ninox Aurora feels like you're totally in control of the situation, I really don't think I would be able to zoom comfortably without the Ninox Aurora.
