other than that: why not TKL, and when not TKL, why having the frame so wide?

clearly more garbage gaming related peripheral that's yet again, garbage. keyboards definitely make the least impact on my game in ANY GENRE OF GAME. I've played with a wireless keyboard and ive played with a high end mechanical keyboard.

Travel time and actuation point does make a difference though? When you're moving your mouse and need to adjust to a directional change, you want it as close to instant as possible to sync no? :)

my guess is that your own variance in syncing up your movement w/ your mouse is on the same timescale as the difference in travel time to actuation between random membrane and pro gaming mechanical keyboards. i could imagine top defraggers or kz-ers/long jumpers in csgo may feel this difference switching and it will effect their performance for some amount of time until they adapt, but they adapt and are not forever hindered by their choice of shitty keyboard.

that said, these keyboard do offer some peace given their technical response/quality. so if you're fucking up your long jumps you can focus more readily on your motor skills rather than a perceived problem with your gear (which most likely doesn't exist).

the problem with the mechanical switches is, that the activation point lays "somewhere" inbetween the keypress, which isn't the most intuitive thing when you want to coordinate the keypresses with your mousemovement.

Surely as with most things you'll adapt to the feel of it though? Might be talking out my arse as I've never had a mech keyboard (and don't fancy spending ~£100 on one).

if i wouldn't have cut off the keytravel of my mechanical board to half(right under the activation point), using an o-rings like solution, i would rather play with the crappiest rubberdome keyboard there is, than any mechanical keyboard using cherry mx-switches.

it feels like walking on ice ingame otherwise, and i tried to adapt to it for many days, but it wasn't happening.

but that's just me.

Damn, you just put me off from getting a mech kb. Never had one either like gauss, but I was getting bored of replacing this cheap half height rubber dome logitech k200 anually :P
But it kinda gets worse after 4+ months already. It still works fine tbh, but it just feels worn out pretty quickly.

edit; What about mx red switches? They seem very love or hate it by reading about them, but its either reds or browns if I were to go for a mech kb...

i use reds with double o-rings under each keycap.
also had browns with double o-rings, but when you cut off the keytravel anyways, there is no need for extra feedback from the switch to let you feel when you reach the activation pont.

good for gaming
good for typing

pick one. if you picked gaming, get reds, if you picked typing, get browns. difference is that reds are only slightly better for gaming, and much worse for typing, while browns are only slightly worse for gaming, and much better for typing.

Typing on reds is fun. Your hands just hover over keyboard and poke lightly every key.
There is no feedback but if you touch key you know it's pressed.

I actually stumbled upon this thread while searching for low sound as possible keyboards.

Aside from the discussion about travel time etc, would this keyboard be quiet? or are there other mechanicals out there that would be considerably quieter then this one?

Anything which doesn't have blue switches, combine them with these.

Or get a topre keyboard :o)

There are some manufacturers who actually target people that value silence very high:

- Type S HHKB keyboards

- etc..

decided to go for the topre... I hope I won't miss pure mechanical experience for quake but I doubt the difference is so big vs rtsx or moba gaming needs where you might need mechanical more.

its still in delivery :) can take alot of time from usa to turkey

the HHKB doesn't feel as good as the realforce due to the lack of a metal backplate, so hopefully you didn't get that. Besides, topre keys are fairly quiet anyway save for the spacebar.

I got the realforce. I use spacebar as jump so I guess i'll have to manage :D
