maybe we should have some javascript based emulator on some kind of arcade museum website loading all the games on the fly

edit: ok, watched video, lot of work to hack the games with all these dedicated machines

some of the rom games in emulator "lag". controller input arrive late. i dont know why, performance, programing etc. to make it more complicated, sometimes its the fault of the controller not the game. problems and more problems :(

im not deep into javascript, but javascript was never known for fastness and responsiveness. i played some classics in javascript, for a few minutes, then gave up.

Not trying to rain on your parade but, like skint said, this has been done for ages, I'd wager that most games worth preserving have been dumped already.

Idea is to save them all, in the sense that all of them are worth preserving.

If it is about judging a game's quality, one of my favorite games of all time is a sega's monaco gp clone (the same game and cabinet as it) called super speed race, from taito. Both still aren't emulated despite monaco gp being an absolute classic, renowned masterpiece and maybe one of the best arcade games of all time.
Problem is it uses "discrete" circuits and overall analog hardware, then the scoreboard is on a separate screen, has an analog gauge, etc. etc., and in any case the looseness of the wheel itself cannot be replicated by a PC racing wheel.

BTW these things do get lost. For example lots of community-made content for quake2 is already lost, even when it consists of software files and was made on this internet era.

There really is no need for consoles anymore.

There has never been a need for consoles, at least not after 1990 when PCs really made it. They've always been a money grab in an attempt to establish an exclusive walled garden by the manufacturers.
