The Anquer-Quare UK Dedicated #Reflex server has been running since release, we are now looking to add the classic maps that have popular remakes or potential. We would love to add more maps that players think could be the next big thing! So don't hesitate to ask.

Will be more servers hopefully specific to game modes when they add in the usual commands to admin them correctly. So don't be surprised if you see some FFA and xTDM being played too. Players found trying to ruin games and servers steam profiles will be recorded and saved for when bans are a option, so if someones just trying to do a rocket jump map, dont mess with them!

Right now this is what the server has uploaded and ready to play!

cpm1 - Classic Quake map, included in default Reflex map pool

cpm3 - Classic Quake map, included in default Reflex map pool

cpm22a - Eldreks Aerowalk remake, said to be 1:1 ratio

cpm24m-b6 - Memphis cpm24 remake, adjusted for reflex playstyle

dm4x9_8_beta1 - Remake of Quake Worlds DM4 using 9:8 ratio for most accurate play in Reflex

Zita_1v1 - future named Ascendance, made by Zita/n0cturn3/Arkore - bit bigger then the standard cpma map, but can be played just as fast if you wish, teleporter play is well made

Arkore_dm1 - one of the largest duel maps i have seen so far, slower open map but with room for more speed ;)

voodm1_a1 - latest version of voOs map i could find, expect a updated official release from him in the future.

Movement/Rocket/Parkour maps on the server atm for fun are

movehaus1-parkour - epic freestyle map with so much objects
bldf2 - movement, not for beginners
dustyrun1a - movement, not for beginners
rocket1/2/3/4/5/6/7/9 - 8 different hard rocket jump maps

Quake Live players mostly don't know maps like cpm1/3/24 dm4, so this is new for many players not to mention the brand new players from other genres/games.

The scale on the ZTN remake was terrible i was told by many sources and that it felt very bad to play so i am waiting for a proven version.

Right now i'm only adding maps i am able to test for playability and balance, no reason to add dozens of community made maps that no one will want to play.

I absolutely believe people will want to play _good_ community made maps. It doesn�t exactly inspire mappers to put in the hours, if their work doesn't get uploaded to servers because "no-one will want to play them".

Mappers, please mirror the old maps, so we can at least pretend they aren't the same thing (actually, a lot of the muscle memory for jumps is lost when you suddenly have to do them in the opposite direction).

With the test builds changing everyday or so we are keeping the server on build #27 till the next non test is released which believed to include a auto updater for dedicated servers.

Looks like this old maps thing is really going to kill the reflex hype for new players, only cpm players want to pay and play a new game with old maps, we wont let the same few cpm players raping us in the maps they have played for years and years.

Reflex really is going to be cpm based physics with cpm map remakes and cpm players. Sad.

Newborn, i think its time for you to take a side, either you completely discourage and ban remakes, or get ready to make a game thats gonna be played only by cpmers.

cpm players can play their cpm maps on cpma, whats the need to put them on reflex servers? Oh i see, so they can keep playing what they want also in this new game. cpm player vote cpm map, reflex player vote no, reflex player votes reflex map, cpm player votes no. I could go on but obviously you cant separate the messenger from the message.

reflex player goes to other server to play with reflex player
or if there are more reflex players in spec than cpm players in spec then reflex map wins, or the other way around

theres no problem here. Good maps must live on forever in all fast paced fps games, even if they are not officially used in tournaments.

If Reflex fails will be because people (as in the mainstream audience) simply don't care about fast paced fps games like this anymore, simple as that, not because some fucking detail about a couple old maps being voteable.

if maps are in reflex is because people build them, go ahead and create maps; I have been playing cpm for ages and you can ask around the community about me, i am always willing to play new maps.

I don't really understand your conclusion ---- after 17 days ---- of the open alpha, making a map is def not easy (design, overlay, items, flow, moves, skill level, gametype, etc... not to mention theme/art/ambient). Consider the following:

- Everyone who started creating maps are just creating content from the game they came from.

- If you make maps for new players and gametypes it can drag in players for sure.

The first one is simply copy and paste, the second one is work from scratch.

One takes longer, can you guess which one ?

On a side note, the dev team (3 guys) is focusing on doing tasks of adult people, i don't think they have the time to listen to balant rant from a guy who lives in the past

So what you're saying is that ztn and dm13 killed QL?

Also, people with enough cpm experience to gain a map knowledge advantage on remakes of old maps are probably good enough at the game to roflstomp new players on all maps, new or old. And no, there's no significant difference between 20-0, 30-0 or 40-0.

Continuing the tradition of naming maps with 3-4 letters is a tragic mistake and leads to thousands of kilobytes of wasted bandwidth.

Please use the wisdom of mathematicians and start using a single character (upper and lowercase) or symbol and when you run out of letters, borrow the greek alphabet.

Looks like this will be stable build for a while so we will go ahead and update the server, re add all the map updates and get the show on the road again.

Looking for player made maps that have been played/test and you would like to play with others, so feel free to post the forum link to the maps here.

Ive not seen most of the players here in Reflex, seen many in QL and CPMA. If you don't like Reflex i don't know what you are doing here, if your only motive is just to hate on something and someone you wont encounter else where then good job.

yep, Ive heard people bitch a lot there are no new maps, no wonder 90% of the servers are hosting cpm1/3 but that doesnt mean new maps doesnt exists, if you want to try something new download them and play than plz do share your thoughts with me http://www.esreality.com/post/2688449/new-ref...-feedback/ or on the reflex forum.

I feel you bro, hopefully the cpm fanboys will realize theyre killing a potentially successful successor. Im learning quakeworld right now and being an old fuck with daughters and all, not much free time to playtest your maps, and tbh learning/understanding new maps must be the thing that im worst at.

But theres plenty of very knowledgeable guys about maps in this community so i hope you get the feedback you deserve for your hard mapping work.

Hey man i saw your Edge remake a few weeks ago and held off playing it for the moment waiting for some more game modes (epic CA map imo havnt tried other game modes)

I played your second map THCDM1 in the official map pool, it was quite good, right now server is on hold while we switch IPs and stuff due to constant mad and DDOS.

Will get AQ server back up either before or at build #29 with everyones maps in pool.

yeah the scale for q2dm1 for 1v1 is completely off, but it would be good for some CA/FFA or any mode that involves more than 2 players :)

The official release include the middle version of the map which is the worst aka random ramp in the mega room... I replaced it with the ledge and it works way better imo, would be cool if you can replace it with the one downloaded from my website.
