Yes, that was only weapon damage. Physics are pure Q3, aka crappy after you've played QL.

I've thought a lot about this. Just seems like such a pain in the ass, and it's really unclear what it is they did with some of the graphics stuff.

Wolfcam is just Q3 right? Most stuff looks pretty good in it...

I'm interested in the physics and net code more than anything anyway (that's the stuff I'm willing to pay for).

You'd probably need to build on CPMA and the source is still closed.

What they did was motherfucking ruining it. Game looks the same when maxed out except they have somehow ruined players that play with the classic russian r_mapoverbrightbits 5 r_picmip 5 configs. For example, the new campgrounds is unplayable like this because it's bright as hell. These fucking morons keep ruining every possible thing about Q3.

Maybe better idea is opportunity to buy quakelive server install files (kinda registered server, licensed to 1 person 1 server instance).
Such instance can be always in touch with master server (to check license) and if connection can be created for 10 minutes, then server shuts down.

For example in Israel we have no server at all.
But I think 800-1000$ is good price for life time server license.

I have money for it.

If you think, its possible to open some small local community and try to return money from player's donations.
Well, in addition you will have to pay around 30-40$ monthly for hosting of such server, but I think this is not what will scare real game freaks )

Using CPMA VQ3 with some custom settings one can set it up somewhat close to the current rules, at least in my noob opinion. For duel I used to use these settings:

gameplay VQ3
type 1
items -RUNES
items -ITEMS
items -BFG
overtime 1
timelimit 10
weaponrespawn 5
simplemega 1
prosound 0
dropitems 0
health 125

But a few problems remain:
* Some maps like pro-q3dm6 have forced weaponrespawn 15 with VQ3 gameplay
* LG/RG stronger than in QL
* IIRC, the opponent can still spawn in front of you

Why dont you leave vq3 alone? :)
We had so many tasty bugs, weapons, everything was right on. Tricking, movement, fragging.
Why do you want to debilitate vq3 with QL settings?
